Hubby and I are getting ready to start ttc (yay!), and so of course my name obsession is now in full swing. My list suddenly seems rather boring though, so I would love some suggestions. I’d like names that aren’t popular, aren’t weird, but still sound fresh if that makes sense. I also really love “P” names and long names (like [name]Penelope[/name]), but our last name begins with a P and is long. [name]Do[/name] you think that we should avoid long names or P names?
Current list:
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Callahan[/name]
[name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Coburn[/name]
[name]Cohen[/name]
[name]Finnley[/name]
[name]Finch[/name]
Fitch
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Pace[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Truman[/name]
[name]Whittaker[/name]
[name]Shepherd[/name]
[name]Adah[/name]
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Bronwyn[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
Ellowyn
[name]June[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
I don’t think your list looks boring at all! I love several on your list so far. I think that first and last initials that are the same are fine. I say practice saying the name out loud and if it doesn’t sound like you are stuttering…you’re good!
[name]Beckett[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] this one!
[name]Callahan[/name]- Again another great choice. I haven’t heard this one as a first name before. I dig surnames as first names.
[name]Caspian[/name]- OK, kinda cool.
[name]Coburn[/name]- not my favorite
[name]Cohen[/name]- I like this one a lot too!
[name]Finnley[/name], [name]Finch[/name], Fitch- I don’t really like the “F” names but that’s just me. “Fitch” sounds like “fetch” to me.
[name]Graham[/name]- not bad
[name]Jude[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it
[name]Pace[/name]- Very HIP
[name]Phineas[/name]- this name seems to appear on more and more lists. I don’t like it, but “Phin” could be a nn since you like [name]Finnley[/name] and [name]Finch[/name]
[name]Truman[/name]- I don’t know why, but this name sounds like a chubby baby name, so if your baby is very squeezable then it may be perfect
[name]Whittaker[/name]- I like “[name]Whit[/name]” as a nn
[name]Shepherd[/name]- Cool
[name]Adah[/name]- pretty. different spelling on a popular name
[name]Briar[/name]- different. Isn’t this the name the fairies gave Sleeping Beauty? Brair [name]Rose[/name]? I like it
[name]Bronwyn[/name]- hmmmm…definately not boring, but kinda masculine
[name]Clementine[/name]- I don’t love this one
Ellowyn- Different and Pretty. This one is probably my favorite on your list
[name]June[/name]- I like this as a middle name a lot (Ellowyn [name]June[/name]?)
[name]Lark[/name]- Again another good choice, it would also make a pretty middle name
[name]Penelope[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Wren[/name]- Pretty and not common so I like it!
Good luck! I think you have some great options! Other “P” names I like: [name]Preslie[/name], [name]Princeton[/name], [name]Paxton[/name], [name]Pierce[/name], [name]Preston[/name]
Boys
[name]Hawthorne[/name]
[name]Crewe[/name]
[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Calder[/name]
[name]Campbell[/name]
[name]Fritz[/name]
Girls
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name]
[name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name]

If the name starts with a P it can still sound good with a last name that starts with P, but you just have to find the right one. I really like a lot of the names on your lists, here are some more suggestions:
[name]Brighton[/name]
[name]Casimir[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Jove[/name]
[name]Finnegan[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Marshall[/name]
Bracken
[name]Ridge[/name]
[name]Shale[/name]
[name]Persephone[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Jade[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Arianwen[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name]
[name]Pascale[/name]
I don’t have any suggestions but did want to make two points. 1) I’d be a little weary of using [name]Cohen[/name], since it is seen by some people as a controversial and/or offensive first name. [name]Even[/name] if you don’t agree with that, some people will, and that’s probably not a first impression you want your child to make. 2) I [name]LOVE[/name] alliterative names. They’re very memorable and always make me think of really glamorous celebrities. You just have to avoid one that has too many of the same sounds, so that it doesn’t sound like stuttering. But (this is the first P surname that came to my head) for example [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Pryor[/name] sounds like an oscar-winning actress waiting to happen.
