I love [name]Averill[/name] (personally like [name]Avril[/name] spelling). I don’t hate [name]Avis[/name], but I don’t find it particularly appealing. My thoughts when I read [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name], [name]Avis[/name] were… “eh.” But when I read [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name], [name]Averill[/name], I though “oooh… nice.”
I prefer [name]Avis[/name]!
I voted for [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Avis[/name]. [name]Avis[/name] is soft and clearly feminine. [name]Averill[/name] is more of a man’s name for me as well as a surname (eg. [name]William[/name] [name]Averell[/name] Harriman was a prominant politician and ambassador during the [name]Kennedy[/name] and [name]Johnston[/name] administrations. His middle name was his mother’s maiden name). I find [name]Avis[/name] more distinctive than [name]Averill[/name] for a girl. I actually knew an [name]Avis[/name] in high school and she happened to be one of the most intelligent and creative people in the whole school so I may be biased. I always thought her name was one of the most unique - a quirky classic! Best wishes, [name]Mischa[/name].
Kath,
I’m usually not so blunt and, quite frankly, rude, but I find very little appealing in [name]Avis[/name]. I’m not much for the -vis sound, I don’t think, and the Av- ending feels like it needs a little more substance behind it.
I love [name]Averill[/name] or [name]Averil[/name] or even [name]Avril[/name] for you. Clearly, since I suggested it - ha. I don’t think [name]Avril[/name] or any of its spelling variations, especially [name]Averill[/name], are more common than [name]Avis[/name] and I don’t think it’s lackluster in the set. I think it fits better than [name]Avis[/name] with [name]Lorcan[/name] and [name]Gregor[/name] because it’s got an older, richer sound, whereas [name]Avis[/name] feels new, too new. I also find it more feminine and charming than [name]Avis[/name] for a girl. That’s just my personal opinion! Plus, the sound of [name]Averill[/name] with the set? Divine.
I vote [name]Averil[/name]/[name]Averill[/name]/[name]Avril[/name] 100%!
[name]Lemon[/name]
I think lemon’s suggestion of [name]Averill[/name] this spelling brings the sibset together in a lovely way. [name]Avis[/name] reminds me firstly of a bird and of course [name]Avis[/name] Rent A Car. I don’t like that association at all, poor child being called after a car rental company.
I have watched your posts for months and I think that [name]Averill[/name] is by far and away the best one considered so far!
rollo
I feel [name]Averill[/name] is dull, a too-frilly way of spelling [name]Avril[/name] (which I’m not particularly fond of anyways) and reminds me of Advil. [name]Avis[/name] however, is feminine without being overly-so, as [name]Mischa[/name] said, a quirky classic!
My thoughts exactly.
