Has anyone else read lotf? If so you’d know the character Piggy was only given an offensive nickname referring to his weight and not a real name. I’ve wondered since then what his name would’ve been if he had introduced himself. I don’t know why but I want to call him [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. What do you think his real name was.
Omg I love [name_m]Lord[/name_m] Of The Flies! I used to be so obsessed with the book and the movies lol.
When I was in school, we had the same discussion regarding Piggy’s real name. So this theory was actually my high school English teacher’s and not my own but I really believe it could be true. [name_m]Lord[/name_m] Of The Flies was inspired by 1858 novel The [name_f]Coral[/name_f] Island by R.M. Ballantyne. In this novel, the three main characters are named [name_m]Ralph[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and Peterkin. And since LOTF also had main characters named [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m], my teacher told us he thought Piggy’s real name was [name_m]Peter[/name_m] or Peterkin.
Anyway, I agree with him. I could see Piggy being a [name_m]Peter[/name_m] or a Peterkin. I could see him being an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] too, it seems very fitting!
I can definitely see him as a [name_m]Peter[/name_m], It’s nice to have that closure. Thank so much!
