After searching Nameberry for hours, I have finally found the perfect boys and girls name: [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] these names are my total favorites for everything (naming children, naming characters, and just names I love). What I want is your opinion on these names. What do you like about [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]? What do you not like about it? What do you like and dislike about [name_m]Archer[/name_m]? Thank you in advance!
*I am not asking for opinions of these names together. [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] would not be a sibset. These names are completely separate.
I love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m]! [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] sounds rather like a mermaid name to me and it’s so feminine and elegant. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is tough and daring, but it also has the amazing nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. Great names!
I like both. I think the meaning of [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is a little strange, especially on a child, but children grow up. And, really, who cares about that? The name has a pretty sound, it’s fairly uncommon, yet familiar. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a little trendy-ish, which is kind of a turn-off to me, but I still like it. I like archery, so I guess that’s why I think it’s kind of cool. And, I know you specifically said you weren’t asking about them as a sibset, but I think they would work fine together, for what it’s worth.
I like them both, though I love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]!
I love the imagery I get from [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], the way the sounds swim, all the vowels like waves between the alluring L’s and R’s. It’s utterly enchanting. I like that it has lots of nickname options. If she wants to be sensible: [name_f]Lora[/name_f] or [name_f]Lori[/name_f]; tomboyish: [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_u]Ori[/name_u]; feminine but simpler than [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]: [name_f]Ora[/name_f]; sassy: [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. And on and on. I really love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. The only downside is most people don’t know it, and stumble over spelling or pronunciation. Those that do know it know it from [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls, which isn’t necessarily a bad association, but I’m sure it would be annoying to hear “oh like [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls” for the hundredth time.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] is cute. Definitely trendy and bordering on hipster. Those aren’t bad things imo. I like the archery association. I’m an amateur archer myself, so I consider that a positive. The only real thing I dislike about [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is the dreaded [name_m]Archie[/name_m] nickname. I don’t find it appealing at all.
I love them both. [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is beautiful and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a really cool name. I know a little boy called [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and he’s the cutest little thing and his mother and father are both so cool so I instantly think the name is kinda awesome because of them. I agree that the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m] isn’t that great but the [name_m]Archer[/name_m] I know never gets called [name_m]Archie[/name_m], probably because it isn’t any shorter, but they all call him [name_m]Arch[/name_m] which is so much cooler than [name_m]Archie[/name_m]!
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is really beautiful. I love that name! [name_m]Archer[/name_m] isn’t really my style at all, though. I’m not a fan of the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m].
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]- Very pretty, I always want to love it more than I actually do. It’s sweet but can grow with a girl. Nice nickname options. Not too popular. Overall, a very good choice.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]- I love [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_m]Arch[/name_m] or [name_m]Archie[/name_m] are awesome nicknames. It’s fun and fresh without being too common.
I find this post amusing because I just had a convo with my husband a few days ago suggesting the girl name [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] as our top girl name pick to go with his top boy name pick; [name_m]Archer[/name_m].
So needless to say, I love both names!!!
He prefers [name_f]Lola[/name_f] to [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] though… but I love both
I am SO in love with [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m].
I work in a daycare, and there was one class with two Loreleis. (which is really strange because it is such a rare name.) and they were both totally different kids, one being very outgoing and mischevious, and one being shy and sweet. I think meeting them made me like the name because I saw two different personalities with the name, which makes it more realistic and wearable for me.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] will most likely be the middle name of mine and my boyfriend’s first son. So of course I love it I do NOT like [name_m]Archie[/name_m] as a nickname though. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_m]Archer[/name_m].
If these two are any indicators of your taste in names, it must be great!
I just had to reply as my son is [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (so obviously I love the name!).
We don’t use the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m] - it’s too cutesy for our taste (I never dressed him in baby blue for the same reason). He’s not quite 2, but he’s already a little man. He gets “[name_m]Archer[/name_m]-man” from his carers at daycare and the other children never have any trouble saying his name (he could say it very early too).
I love the name [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] as well, though would never use it (you’re right, it doesn’t quite fit with [name_m]Archer[/name_m]). I do think it’s pretty, but now that I have a toddler, I realise how nice it is for a name to be easily pronounced.
I also see that it might be mispelt frequently, and as someone who has to spell every one of my names, it’s not a big deal, but it would be nice to not have to worry.
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is a gorgeous name that I heard for the first time about 4-5 years ago from a close friend. I loved the name for a very long time, and it’s one of those monikers that is really sassy yet elegant and mysterious. It’s got a flair like [name_u]Ori[/name_u] but a sweetness like [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. Plus, it has awesome nicknames, of which my favorite is [name_f]Lola[/name_f].
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] is very tough yet sweet, especially if he goes by [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. I’m in love with the fact that it’s an occupational name as well as a modern spin on the ever-beautiful [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. It’s a 10 in my book.
I love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], and I like [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is so underused, but it is recognizable. I like the sound. It is a great choice. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is alright, NMS, but nothing wrong with it. I like the nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. I’m not sure what I dislike about it, but there is something off about it to me, but that is just me. I think it is totally usable. It is different without being too strange. I think they are both good, solid choices.
