Lorelei?

We are expecting our second child in [name_u]August[/name_u], a sibling to [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. We’ve already decided on [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] should we be blessed with another little boy but an early guess from an ultrasound tech is pointing more toward a little girl.

We have always had a difficult time agreeing upon names for a baby girl. Our running favorite at the moment is [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. We love that it’s pretty but still has a vaguely spunky feel to it. We also like that it doesn’t seem to be too popular at the moment, unlike poor [name_m]Liam[/name_m] (who is at least one of three in our neighborhood alone). However, we aren’t fans of any of the associated nicknames and are hoping it’s not too much to expect people to call her by her full name.

What do you all think? Is [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] too long or too much of a mouthful to say? Is it too much alongside big brother [name_m]Liam[/name_m]?

Thanks so much!

I think the length is fine though I would expect her to end up being called [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f] by some (the only nn I would personally try to avoid is [name_f]Lori[/name_f]), I don’t think it’s too much next to brother [name_m]Liam[/name_m], either.
It’s a sweet name and if you love it, than go for it.

I love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too long. If you want nickname I like Lo, [name_f]Lola[/name_f], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

We too are considering [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] for our little girl due in [name_f]May[/name_f]. We are having a similar problem… Either I or DJ don’t love the nn options we’ve come up with so far (or they aren’t an option because they are already associated with a family member).

DH keeps pointing out that both he and his sister don’t have nn’s to their very common names (with very popular nn’s).
