The more my husband and I talk about “[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]” the more we like it! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband usually likes more unisex names (his daughter from his first marriage is named “[name_u]Madison[/name_u]” NHSAA!) [name_f]My[/name_f] taste is more traditional, but without being overly popular - so “[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f],”, etc. I think “[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]” has that cool vibe and feminine sound without being overly popular. Plus, [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] is the coolest and the name is in a Beatles song. Thoughts?? I don’t even know if we are having a boy or girl yet.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] got positive pregnancy test last week.
Our son is named “Truitt” which is my mother’s maiden name.
I actually kind of like [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] but my dad has a cousin with that name so that has kind of changed my views on it, not bad or anything but I had just never really thought of the name outside of her. haha
This name makes me think of beautiful actress [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_m]Young[/name_m] (birth name: [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f]) as well as [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. It does have a Southern or country vibe to it. If you don’t mind Truitt and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] sharing the double “t”, I wouldn’t mind meeting a little [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. It’s pretty and feminine but I don’t find it overly frilly probably due to the “Lor” sound in the beginning.
Truitt and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] would sound fantastic together!
I would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] to meet a baby [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]… I absolutely love this name. Though I may be biased, it is my name.
Oh, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. Truitt and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] make a great duo - sort of a retro-Western sound (with siblings like [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_m]Harlan[/name_m]), but I could also see them in a traditional [name_f]East[/name_f] coast family (with siblings like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Delia[/name_f]).
I love [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], but mostly for the nickname [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. Very pretty.
I adore the name [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. It was is my signature until my SO decided to veto all names that I wanted the nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for. (Lor is out of the question as that’s his aunts nn).
We have a lady who works in our building whose name is [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. I think she’s probably in her mid to late 50s. She is the sweetest women you could imagine - real funny and sincere. I’d love to meet a little girl [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. It’s such an underused name lately and I feel like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as a nn or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] are really on trend yet you can keep the classic, vintagey feel. [name_f]My[/name_f] only qualm with this choice for you is that Truit is very T heavy and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] is equally T heavy. Which begs the question(s): Does that leave [name_u]Madison[/name_u] totally out of the loop? And if you had a third child would you want an equally T heavy name? But if the T thing isn’t a concern to you, I’d say GO FOR IT.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it, but then I am a little drawn names that are beautiful but also a little bit country. Makes me think of girls in dresses who aren’t afraid to get dirty.
I think it’d be very wearable on a small child, and definitely on an adult. Not sure if you’re into nicknames, but aside from [name_f]Etta[/name_f], which is quite popular. You can also get [name_f]Lori[/name_f], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] out of this one too. Or just Lo.
Truitt & [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] is a great sibset. I personally love the double tts in there.
Truitt and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] go great together!
I like [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]! One of the moms on here has a [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], and I thought that was so adorable! I love the nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] for it, or even [name_f]Letty[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. [name_u]Madison[/name_u], Truitt, and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] are lovely together!
I like [name_f]Laurette[/name_f] pronounced LOR EHTT with a t sound at the end…I like it better than [name_f]Loretta[/name_f].
[name_f]Laurette[/name_f] happens to be my mom’s name, and I still do not know anyone else with her name. [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]/ Rett is her nickname. Her nieces call her auntie Rette.
[name_f]Laurette[/name_f] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] is the only famous [name_f]Laurette[/name_f] I know, but apparently this was not her true given name.
she was my eighth grade elderly english teacher, sorry so that is a definite no
Thanks for the feedback. This is DEFINITELY the last baby, so no worries about needing to add another one later. Truitt is very “T” heavy, but the way it is said is softer (I’m from Oklahoma. :)) I think the way that “[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]” would actually be said would sound more like “Laredda” - just being realistic about my family’s and my accents.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] and all it’s possible nicknames.
I love it! I have an Auntie [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] and she is one of the best people I know, caring, kind and very beautiful. I think it is a gorgeous name! Go for it!
