Louis Edward?

First Would it be a terrible mistake to use [name_m]Louis[/name_m] but pronounce it like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]? I love the sound but I find the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling unappealing. And no one around here would use the ‘loo-ee’ pronunciation.

Secondly what do you think of [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]?

The only [name_m]Louis[/name_m] I have ever known pronounces it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]- and I’ve never met a [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. So that’s my association. I don’t think it would be an egregious error or anything.

I like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m], especially with the S pronounced!

I think as a [name_u]Brit[/name_u] I see [name_u]Lou[/name_u]-ee and read the combination as [name_u]Lou[/name_u] ee [name_m]Edward[/name_m] rather than [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. If I wanted the pronunciation [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] I would spell the name [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

To be honest, I would spell it as [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I’m not from [name_m]Britain[/name_m], but I know of British people called [name_m]Louis[/name_m] from the internet or cinema and I’d be inclined to pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as loo-ee. However, if you really dislike the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling, [name_m]Louis[/name_m] pronounced loo-ees isn’t a dealbreaker. You just might have to explain the pronunciation to a few people.
I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a very handsome combo! Classic and strong.

I think you could get away with Louis pn Lou-is. I’ve come across it spelled and pronounced like that, though I’d pronounce it Lou-ee myself

Louis Edward is very handome

I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] could be either pronunciation. Paired with [name_m]Edward[/name_m], my first assumption would be to pronounce it like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. On its own I would be less certain, but either pronunciation works.

I have definitely heard [name_m]Louis[/name_m] pronounced like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. To me [name_u]Louie[/name_u] is spelled like this. But I am in the states :woman_shrugging:

I guess it depends where you are from but I like the combo [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Its very handsome.

Saying [name_m]Louis[/name_m] like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is not an incorrect pronounciation, just a rarer one. And I agree with you, [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] in unappealing while I find [name_m]Louis[/name_m] handsome either way. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a such a charming combo, sounds very regal.

I mean there is also [name_m]Luis[/name_m] as a spelling option. Although I say all three [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Luis[/name_m] the same so there’s that😃

I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] the same! The only [name_m]Louis[/name_m] I know pronounces it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], but some people do pronounce his name wrong (we live in [name_u]New[/name_u] Zealand for context, so quite influenced by British culture/names)

I think this combo is incredibly handsome!

I’ve met plenty of people who are [name_m]Louis[/name_m]-pronounced-[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] so I wouldn’t necessarily call it a mistake, but personally if that was the pronunciation I wanted I would just spell it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].
If I went with the [name_u]Lou[/name_u]- spelling, it would be because I wanted to pronounce it [name_u]Louie[/name_u].

It’s always so interesting to read through posts on this topic and see how varied pronunciation can be. I say all three of these names differently.

I read that as the same pronunciation as [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] so I think it’s definitely fine. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]-very cute combo.

Tbh I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. And I much prefer the [name_m]Louis[/name_m] spelling rather than [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

I mean, if there’s and s at the end of [name_m]Louis[/name_m], why Louie?
