Louis

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted your opinions on [name_m]Louis[/name_m]-- plus the alternative spelling [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and nn [name_m]Louie[/name_m].

I love [name_m]Louis[/name_m], spelt either way. I prefer the spelling [name_m]Louis[/name_m] though, I like the option of the nickname [name_m]Louie[/name_m] with the the spelling [name_m]Louis[/name_m]. It’s a strong name, but the option of the nickname gives it a lovely quality for childhood, and can be carried on through to adulthood. I also like [name_u]Lou[/name_u] as an alternate nickname. Very great choice!

Some people pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as “[name_m]Louie[/name_m]” and I think that’s why others go with the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling. I like both and [name_m]Louie[/name_m] or [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is a great nn.

I would pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as “[name_m]Louie[/name_m]”. I consider [name_m]Louis[/name_m] more classic, and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] more modern but either would be all right.

I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] “[name_m]Louie[/name_m]” and love that. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is nms.

I would pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] the same. I prefer the [name_m]Louis[/name_m] spelling, and love the nickname [name_m]Louie[/name_m]. Adorable!

I love it. so much so I married it. lol (husbands name is [name_m]Louis[/name_m])
I call him [name_u]Lou[/name_u] for short but because his family is french he was called [name_m]Louie[/name_m] a lot growing up. Its a great strong name. I have nothing but great things to say about it. (Admittedly not a big fan of the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling though)

For me [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is “[name_m]Louie[/name_m]”, and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] has a completely different pronunciation. I would choose the spelling accordingly.

I prononce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and it actually is the real pronunciation of the name. I would respect the french roots and say it [name_m]Louie[/name_m], or I would pick the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling.

I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]LEW[/name_m]-ee. The name [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is an entirely different name and one I am not a fan of.

If this baby is a boy will be [name_m]Louis[/name_m], pronounced [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and not [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I love it!

I actually prefer [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] to [name_m]Louis[/name_m], it’s one of my favourites. I too would pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as [name_m]Lew[/name_m]-ee, which I think is why I don’t like it so much, as I tend to think ee ending names are cute, but not versatile. I like that you can always have [name_m]Lew[/name_m]-ee as a nickname for [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].
