My husband and I love the name [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] but lately I’ve been drawn more to edgier [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. Would it be weird/not at all intuitive to name her [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and call her (mostly) [name_f]Louise[/name_f]? I also think [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is easier to find good middle name flow (my favorite is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]). WDYT?
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] feels like a full name to me, rather than a nickname for anything. Using it as a nickname for [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] isn’t intuitive to me.
Some middle name suggestions for [name_f]Louise[/name_f]:
I think if you were asking for [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] or [name_u]Lou[/name_u] as nn’s for [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] that would make more sense to me.
But [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] are so virtually the same name that using one as a nn of the other feels a bit odd.
Oddly I find the -a ending in [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] spunkier than the softer -e of [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. I’d stick with [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
As a [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], I feel quite strongly about the fact that they’re two separate names. To me, they are two completely different people and, to be honest, if you’re going to call your kid [name_f]Louise[/name_f], you may as well just do that. It’ll get confusing otherwise.
They’re variants of the same name rather than one being a nickname for the other. I think you could do it, but it’s kind of odd. Also…I prefer [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
