I feel like the ‘a’ ending names that are so trendy are going to end up sounding dated ([name]Isabella[/name] vs. [name]Isabel[/name] is a good example of what I’m talking about). I like both of these names a ton but feel like [name]Louise[/name] might be a bit more timeless. Opinions?
I disagree about [name]Louisa[/name] completely. I don’t think that the a ending is going to make it more dated in a few years. [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name] are classics in their own way. Right now, [name]Isabella[/name] is just skyrocketing. [name]Louisa[/name], however, isn’t even in the top 1000 here in the US. I don’t see it getting uber popular either.
[name]Louise[/name] is nice. But I get a much harder vibe from it. It’s not as soft or feminine as [name]Louisa[/name], and it makes me think of some crank [name]German[/name] woman in a drindl. I think [name]Louisa[/name] is deffinetly timeless, and [name]Louise[/name] is too. [name]Just[/name] not as pretty.
I agree with aj_bear that [name]Louise[/name] has a more harder sound to it. Like I could picture [name]Louise[/name] on older waitress in some rural diner.
I like [name]Louisa[/name] best as a first name-- I think it sounds sassier than [name]Louise[/name]. That said, sometimes [name]Louise[/name] works better as a mn depending on what’s around it.
I think [name]Louisa[/name] is timeless as well. I don’t think the a ending makes that big of a difference. I really don’t think it makes the name more ore less trendy or more or less timeless either. Personally, I like both, but I’d probably be more likely to use [name]Louisa[/name] as a first name (I think it has a prettier sound) and [name]Louise[/name] as a middle name (obviously not together).
I just don’t understand how to pronounce [name]Louisa[/name], with a z or a hard s? I love the way it looks, and it seems more elegant and pretty, but I would worry that pronounciation issues would follow for people in her life. [name]Louise[/name] is still very beautiful and more simple.
I like both names! I feel like [name]Louisa[/name] has become popular on Nameberry. My best childhood friend is named [name]Louise[/name] and I think it’s more refined while [name]Louisa[/name] is sassier.
[name]Louisa[/name] is so pretty. And just because it has an ‘a’ at the end doesn’t mean it’s trendy. For example, [name]Wisteria[/name] isn’t trendy at all.
[name]Louise[/name] is more of an old lady name, but Lousia seems so fresh and new. Good luck!
I like both [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]. That said, [name]Louisa[/name] has a girlie feel to it while [name]Louise[/name] is a little harsher. My vote for a fn would be [name]Louisa[/name].
I love the sound of [name]Louisa[/name]. I agree that “a” ending names can be a bit trendy, but I don’t think that’s the case with [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Louise[/name] seems dated to me, but [name]Louisa[/name] feels fresh. I can see [name]Louisa[/name] on a little girl, but have a hard time picturing a little [name]Louise[/name].
