[name]Just[/name] curious, what are some names that you adore, but would never use? Either because DP nixed them, or they are just too out there?
I have a top 100 list for each gender which most of won’t get used so I’ll just list a few
[name]Temperance[/name], [name]Mercy[/name], [name]Verity[/name] (SO dislikes virtue names)
[name]Imogen[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Persephone[/name] (SO says they are too complicated)
[name]Eithne[/name], [name]Eilidh[/name], Brigh, [name]Aoibhe[/name], [name]Aeronwy[/name] (too hard to use in america)
[name]Mackenzie[/name], [name]Lindsey[/name], [name]Whitney[/name], [name]Morgan[/name] (too ‘girly’)

I’m not quite sure if I would ever have the nerve to use these…(But some are contenders, and I love them!

[name]Etienne[/name] (boy) (My mom and dad, as well as my sister, and no one can pronounce it correctly)

[name]Juniper[/name] (bad assosiations -still the same guy from the ‘bad assosiations’ in the previous three)
[name]Sally[/name] ( i love this as a nickname for the name [name]Sarah[/name], after my great-grandmother, whom I love and miss dearly, but sarah is a bit popular so that’s sort of sad, but I still love the idea of a little [name]Sally[/name])

Solace and [name]Winter[/name]… I think they’re both too out there.

[name]Euphemia[/name] - husband does not approve

[name]Frederic[/name] - HATE [name]Fred[/name], [name]Freddie[/name], etc… just don’t like the nicknames, which are most likely unavoidable.
[name]Nemo[/name] - I think all the fish jokes would be a bit too much to handle ha.
[name]Theodore[/name] - I love it and want to use it but also don’t want to use it. My feelings are conflicted on this one!

We can’t use any of these - either because they sound bad with our last name, are too similar to names of people we know, or have unpleasant associations.

I don’t think I have any names I love but would never bestow on a kid. I might have, at one time in my life, appreciated the name [name]Richard[/name], which is an absolutely non-negotiable NO name - but if I did, it was eons ago, and it’s not one I like enough on merit to include in any lists.
That said, two is my firm limit on having children (if I ever do at all), so any girls’ names lower than Everleigh and [name]Kate[/name] or any boys’ names lower than [name]James[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] on the list aren’t getting used - unless, of course, Hypothetical [name]Future[/name] Partner has a problem with any of those.
Names I love which are too out there: [name]Amaryllis[/name], [name]Eben[/name], [name]Elihu[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Hedwig[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Iseult[/name], [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Luc[/name], [name]Ludwig[/name], [name]Remember[/name], Solace, and [name]Temperance[/name].
Names ruined by people I know: [name]Wendy[/name] and [name]David[/name], maybe [name]Arianna[/name] or [name]Renata[/name]
and [name]Hyacinth[/name] ruined by Mrs. Bucket, who is all my family can think of when they hear [name]Hyacinth[/name].

I’m still bitter that everyone in my family hates [name]Arthur[/name] and so my DH doesn’t want to use it if we ever have a boy.

garnet, it’s a shame you think you’d get raised eyebrows for [name]Cordelia[/name], because imo that would be a great way to honour AoGG without using [name]Anne[/name]
I feel similarly and I considered [name]Marilla[/name] for my upcoming girl, but unfortunately came to the same conclusion you have about [name]Cordelia[/name].
I take it you don’t care for [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eyre[/name]? I feel the opposite way to you on that one - there are plenty of characters I like named [name]Jane[/name], but I don’t like the name itself.
