Is there a name on your girl list that you adore but can’t use for any particular reason? For me it’s Lyra. It breaks my heart, but my husband hates it. Lyra Willow was the combo I had on my list had my son been a girl, but hubby wouldn’t (and still won’t) budge. What about you?

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is my top boys name! I’m not negotiating when it comes to [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. Husband seems to have just accepted it. I also had [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] on my list when I was pregnant. I still love it but would prefer to not have two [name_u]Li[/name_u]- names. [name_f]My[/name_f] son is [name_u]Liam[/name_u].

I have names i won’t negotiate that he’s accepted but [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] never seems to fly yet [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_u]Zealand[/name_u] do somehow😂
I do love [name_f]Orla[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellia[/name_f] with [name_u]Liam[/name_u] best though!

I love [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and the meaning is lovely, but the similarity to oral turns me right off. Currently in love with [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] for a girl. Husband likes [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].

those 3 names combined are simply too reminiscent of a character out of a book or movie though individually they’d be quite fine (Lune especially as a middle). Also, [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] as I’ve just adopted an abused dog and renamed her with that so it’s off the list for a child

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_u]Tali[/name_u] are the most likely ones… I have a T@llie and an Ol!ver in my family, so not sure I should. I always doubt myself on [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] and [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] because they’ve had downright mean responses from my family, but I adore them. Other than that… probably the next category is names I just likely won’t use because I love similar variants more? I guess that would count here lol. Like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] because [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is my favorite girls’ name, or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or Adelia/Adalia because [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is so high on my list. Similarly [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] because of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], Eleni/Ella because of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], etc.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband dislikes [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] on either gender, so that’s out for me.
For different reasons (family already having used them) I can’t use [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], which breaks my heart a little but which I’ve come to accept.

[name_f]Esperanza[/name_f], [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f], [name_f]Emiliana[/name_f]: Our last name is similar to Espinoza.
[name_f]Yesenia[/name_f]: In Spanish, it’s pronounced with a J sound, so Jes-en-ee-uh. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother is [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] and married a [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] so it’s too similar.
[name_f]Nayeli[/name_f]: [name_f]My[/name_f] 7 year old is [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], so too close.
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]: [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s brother has a nickname that sounds similar to how this would be pronounced in Spanish.
[name_f]Josefina[/name_f] and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]: [name_f]My[/name_f] husband doesn’t like.
I’m sure there’s more but I can’t think of them at the moment. I also take names off my list if they are too popular, like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

The biggest one is [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], as a nickname (for anything). It kinda-rhymes with my last name, so no matter what the full name was, couldn’t do it.
