Love it until you dont anymore

My hubs and I have been stuck on [name]Serafina[/name] for a while now as one of the very few names that we agree on for a girl. But now as I say it its seeming to lose its luster. Anyone else have this experience?

all the time! I feel like I’ve found THE name, and then a few days later, I’m like what on earth was I thinking.

It happens. Either it means it wasn’t true love, just a crush, or it’s like when you say a word over and over again and it loses its meaning. Put [name]Serafina[/name] away in a little box for a while, don’t look at it, say it or think about it . Then, after a while, you take it out again and see what happens.

Yes. Here’s what I do to combat this issue: I keep a list of ALL the names that strike my fancy (and are not totally unacceptable to my husband). I’ll look at my list once a day and put a check mark next to my one favorite name for that day. The names with the most check marks are the serious contenders.
[name]One[/name] cute thing about this strategy is that you can save the list and put it in your child’s baby book. Then, they can later say, “you almost named me WHAT?”
I should mention that it helps to have a husband who has a strong opinion on these things. Between the two of us, it’s pretty tough to find something we both love, so the list is kind of short (fewer than 15 names per gender).

YES! I am due in [name]May[/name], and for the last 3 months my husband and I were completely set on [name]Charlotte[/name]. However, throughout this time I began seeing the name in more places, on more people, and watched it gain popularity on the charts. I woke-up one morning a few weeks ago and told my husband “I now officially hate the name [name]Charlotte[/name]!” He is bummed out, but I am glad that I took the name on a test-run and found out now that I grew tired of it, versus having it on my daughter and coming to the same realization…

Yea, definitely better to discover you’re not that into a name anymore before it makes it onto the birth certificate.

This happens to me ALL the time. Sometimes I wonder if I am just addicted to the baby name hunt haha so I never want to fully commit to a name b/c then I’d have to stop searching!

Yup. We were pregnant for my daughter and then for my son and we had a long list of names. A lot of the names that we once considered using aren’t even on our list anymore. Now we have new ones that we love.

Yes! So many names that were on my list I have to wonder if they were just pregnancy hormones! But I love the name we picked which is good!
[name]Lana[/name] (feels incomplete to me now)
[name]Nina[/name] (sounds shrill to me now)
[name]Jolene[/name] (still sweet but not for me)

I have that, but months later usually.

[name]Alexia[/name] was that name for me, ADORED IT, like nothing else. After a few years, I now hardly think about it. I’m terrified that it’ll happen to [name]Alessandra[/name] since she was the replacement for [name]Alexia[/name].

Oh I love that!

Happens to me too, I feel like I’m starting to tire of the names I love
