[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Anyone have any insight or input –
Rivera for a boy name?
It sounds way too feminine to me. I have met a lot of male [name_m]Rivers[/name_m] though.
I like it, it’s a cool surname name
I think It’s a very cool surname name!
Cute name. I think of [name_m]Geraldo[/name_m] Rivera.
I like it. It helps that the person I know with this surname is really chill and sweet.
Thank you all so much for your feedback! I didnt know if it the child would feel like from a hispanic culture perspective like it was too feminine with “a” on end - but we’d like to use it to honor Spanish culture and also like nickname Riv with our other two children who have three letter names…
thankful for any and all feedback!!! <3
Thank you for feedback! So you think works for first name though?
I think Rivera works. It sounds nicer, and less harsh than [name_u]River[/name_u].
thank you for feedback!!!
I like it. Romantic for a boy’s name, but in a dashing hero sort of way that’s refreshing. I’m not in the camp that thinks -a endings make a name feminine. I’ve always actually found [name_f]Vera[/name_f] to be a harsher girl’s name.
Yes I do, especially considering you want to use it in honor of the child’s latinx heritage it sounds like. I think it works well. And with a rise in popularity of -a ending boys names like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Ira[/name_u], I think Rivera won’t comes off as inherently feminine to the average english speaker, and knowing it’s a surname I don’t think it will come off too feminine to spanish speakers either.
thank you so much!!!
Since in the Spanish language uses ‘a’ on end of words to declare them as feminine, I am wondering if Spanish-speakers or those with Hispanic culture would see it [Rivera] as a feminizing name for a boy
As a Spanish speaker it’s hard for me to imagine an A ending name on a boy. I do however like [name_u]Rio[/name_u] which would be a great way to honor your Hispanic heritage.
