As a child of the 80s, of course I grew up with my fair share of [name_m]Laurens[/name_m], and all were lovely and intelligent - it’s left me with a warm association and I’m leaving it on our shortlist for our fourth baby due in a few months.
I’ve scoured previous posts to find opinions on meeting a new [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] today and, by and large, posters say it’s dated and boring.
Am I the only one feeling the love for [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]? I’d put it in the same category as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], classic.
I don’t see anything wrong with naming a baby today [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. I still think it is a beautiful name that is great on a baby and an adult. People just have a hard time naming their kids the names that were popular when they were young, but I bet our grandkids will be naming their kids [name_f]Brittany[/name_f], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], & [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] like we are naming our kids names that were popular when our grandparents were young. I actually think a baby named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is a bit unexpected in a good way and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] isn’t even in the top 100 anymore so she will likely be the only [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] in her class.
I don’t think it’s the same kind of classic as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], which has a greater history of usage, but it is instantly recognizable and generally well-liked. Personally, I much prefer [name_f]Laura[/name_f] because I think it sounds lighter and less dated, but that’s just me.
I did work with an elementary student a couple of years ago named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and it didn’t seem out of place or dated at all.
I kind of like [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] - it does have a softness to it, while also feeling versatile.
I wouldn’t really class it with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], maybe with [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] - classic but a different sort of classic if that makes any sense
I’ve always been a fan of [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]: It’s tailored, sophisticated, and capable. I think that a child of any personality could suit the name [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], as well. While I wouldn’t call it as classic as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], I find it far less trendy/dated than many people do, thanks to the wonderful [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] Bacall and its ties to [name_f]Laura[/name_f], which has deep roots.
My best friend of seven years is named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] so the name will always have a special place in my heart and I’m definitely biased when it comes to it. There were 6 girls named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] in my graduating class of about 350 so I’ve met my fair share but I don’t get tired of it. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I think [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is exciting and unique? No. But I don’t think it’s dated or dull either.
My friend goes by [name_u]Ren[/name_u] online which is a cute way to spice up the name.
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]’s on my own shortlist, it’s been a favourite of mine since I was a little kid.
I was born in the mid 1990s, and honestly I only knew maybe 2? My sister went to school with 2, and I have a younger 2nd cousin who’s about 12 now with the name. It really wasn’t terribly popular where I live (I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]), so I don’t get the whole “it was everywhere” vibe most others do.
I think [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]’s like, a modern-classic - along the lines of [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] - names that have been in the top half of the top 1000 consistently for more than 3 decades.
I love [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], and every name doesn’t have to be a roller coaster ride. Especially when what most people think are unique are like the same top 25 names they just don’t know it yet.
What about Lauria ou [name_f]Elora[/name_f], for a name that’s similar but still unique. [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is extremely common, although it is a nice name, just kind of bland in my opinion.
