Loxley

Came across this name today. I think Lox is a cute Nn.
Opinions? Xx

I know a baby boy on Instagram named this. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] it sounds made up and reminnd me of [name_u]Salmon[/name_u].

Not my fave but it isn’t too bad - it does have a nice ring to it. I prefer Luxley ‘[name_f]Lux[/name_f]’ or just [name_f]Lux[/name_f] though if I’m honest

I personally prefer Loxley for a boy, but I feel that way about most -ley names and it certainly doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be a fine name on a girl.

Surname names and place names are very popular right now so I think it fits in nicely with current trends but isn’t necessarily going to date badly.

I think it’s cute and fits in well with many other popular names stylistically!

I like it!!

Makes me think of salmon and hair. As in “locks”.

I prefer [name_f]Lux[/name_f] as well. Also [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Huxley[/name_m].

I don’t like it. I also immediately thought of salmon.

It isn’t awful but if I think about it as a name I think of a boy.

Not a fan, it sounds super made up

I’m torn on Loxley a lot. I love the sound, and i like how it looks, but it also sounds really trendy, especially compared to other names on your list.

My two first thoughts:

  1. “[name_u]Robin[/name_u], of Loxley,” specifically from [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood’s Men in Tights - which may be a generational thing that kids these days won’t think of, and an association which you may like or dislike!
  2. It sounds like more of a masculine name -which may or may not be something you are going for.

Not deal-breakers, just sharing my first impressions

I have no idea why anyone would be thinking of salmon, so that could be down to where someone lives. I thought of [name_u]Robin[/name_u] of Loxley ie [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, which is not a bad association, but it is a masculine association. Normally, I really don’t like names like this, but I think Loxley is ok. I can see it going masculine or feminine, actually, and while it does sound trendy and “made-up,” it is not anywhere even close to the worse of those kind of names I’ve heard. I would definitely be more likely to use Loxley over a large number of other names, trendy or not. If you like it quite a bit, I think it would be just fine to use for a girl. I wouldn’t have any problem meeting a little girl named Loxley.

lox = brine-cured salmon

bagels are commonly served with cream cheese and lox

I quite like it for a boy or a girl. I have seen the most adorable baby boy called Loxley on Instagram thats makes love the name. Ley endings are very trendy so I dont think anyone would find Loxley odd.

I wouldn’t have made the salmon association either so I’m not sure how common that would be.

I can’t quite put my finger on why but something about the name is awkward for me to say. It would definitely fit in with current trends though and probably wouldn’t be seen as a weird name.
