Hurray for students in the childbirth department!

[name_f]Lucina[/name_f] and [name_f]Althea[/name_f] are my favourites from your list. [name_f]Devora[/name_f] sounds too much like “Devour” to me… And [name_u]Ember[/name_u] is a pretty name, but [name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], the trashy model/socialite that dated [name_m]Kanye[/name_m] [name_u]West[/name_u] and is now married to Wiz Khalifa… but I suppose not everybody knows of her, so this might be just a personal thing

I haven’t heard of [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or Wiz Khalifa. I’m not current on pop culture, so the association to any of them didn’t register with me. I just like [name_u]Ember[/name_u] for a baby born in [name_u]January[/name_u]. It has less meaning than the other names, but it brings up lovely images of warmth (deserts, sunsets, glowing embers). Thanks for your feedback though! [name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was my initial choice, but [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] may resonate with me more.

I think [name_f]Devora[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite, but all of them are lovely choices.

I voted for [name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] the sound of the 2 names together is lovely. Liking [name_f]Thea[/name_f] too.
I would love be to keep bees! Wow!

I voted for [name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - but [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely too, esp. with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nn and your chosen career !

I loved [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] and [name_f]Althea[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f]) equally, but I voted for [name_f]Thea[/name_f] for 3 reasons. 1) [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is way more unique, and I like that. 2) If she gets older and doesn’t want to be called [name_f]Thea[/name_f], there is another nn option ([name_f]Aly[/name_f] or [name_m]Al[/name_m]). 3) I like the meaning of [name_f]Althea[/name_f] more than that of [name_f]Lucina[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucina[/name_f] is more likely derived from lucus (“grove”) after a sacred grove of lotus trees on the Esquiline [name_m]Hill[/name_m] associated with the goddess.

As much as I love [name_f]Lucina[/name_f], my vote is for [name_f]Althea[/name_f] since I think it flows better with the middle name [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. All your options are nice, but they don’t quite come close to [name_f]Althea[/name_f] for me ^^.
[name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It sounds celestial. It’s so gentle.

Yeah, [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] is apparently the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] name for [name_f]Juno[/name_f]… you can find it [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] a lot. Considering I’d never name my child [name_f]Juno[/name_f] (I hate that name!) but [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], I am okay with [name_f]Lucina[/name_f]. I can dig a sacred grove of trees anyway.

The meaning of [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] (regardless) resonates with me far more than the rest, and I find the meaning of [name_f]Althea[/name_f] to be a little weak compared. [name_f]Althea[/name_f] IS the name of the marshmallow plant, and I could do a garden themed in [name_f]Rose[/name_f] of [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] (commonly known as [name_f]Althea[/name_f]), Marshmallow and Roses. But I love the double meaning of [name_f]Lucina[/name_f]… the fact it means light, and its association with birth and midwifery.

I’m disapointed to see there is already a [name_f]Devora/name_f [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and an (A)mber [name_f]Rose[/name_f]…both are slightly different but neither appear to people I want my daughter to explain she wasn’t named after… though, really they don’t seem to be super relevant people either.

I voted for [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] meaning and connections.

For Casilda – [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] was the goddess of childbirth who safeguarded the lives of women in labour. [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] was also an epithet for [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. The name was generally taken to mean “she who brings children into the light” (Latin: lux, lucis, “light”), but may have been derived from lucus (“grove”) after a sacred grove of lotus trees on the Esquiline [name_m]Hill[/name_m] associated with the goddess. [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] was chief among a number of deities who influenced or guided every aspect of birth and child development.

It was actually a hard decision for me. I voted on [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], mainly because I love the nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. [name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was a close second, followed by [name_f]Devora[/name_f] then [name_u]Ember[/name_u]. You have a beautiful taste in names, my dear.

Thanks.

So far its super close between [name_f]Althea[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucina[/name_f]! If they didn’t somewhat rhyme I’d figured out a way to use both!

[name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Go with the one that was your favorite from the beginning. You might regret it if you don’t.
I am assuming that the baby’s father is on board with the name [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] now?

[name_f]Lucina[/name_f] and [name_f]Althea[/name_f] are definitely my favorites, but I like [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] best for you.

[name_f]Devora[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my vote i love the way it sounds together

Um, well, sort of?

We have a complex relationship, and he’s vetoed all the names I love. I’m reluctant to even discuss names with him, because I think he vetoes them just to veto them. I don’t want to get into the whole situation here, but he wasn’t even in the picture for a long time… her last name is mine because he doesn’t want to be on the birth certificate… etc…

So I pretty much said these are the choices… gave him the four… and he said [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is his favorite. So his vote is to [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. I may prefer [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] just slightly. He suggested [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_f]Lucina[/name_f]. That’s because his best friend suggested [name_u]Harley[/name_u], not because he liked it or thought of it himself. If anyone in his life suggests a name, its the best name ever. Sigh.

I think that if you want your daughter to be strong and confident like a goddess, you should lead by example. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t name her based on what her father wants when he isn’t willing to be on the birth certificate. You are a beauiful goddess, [name_f]Mandy[/name_f], and you are about to give birth to a beautiful goddess. Teach her to stand up for what she loves and believes in . Be the one to chooses her name. It will become her story, that her mother named her.

I voted for [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] because I hope she is a beautiful, ever expanding, flower of light in your life. Evoking hope and strength in midst of all of your “winters”

If you love both of them, you could use both. [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is very pretty, to me. [name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] is very pretty too.

I would suggest [name_f]Aletheia[/name_f]/[name_f]Alethea[/name_f]. It breaks up the endings of both names a bit more and makes it less rhymey. [name_f]Aletheia[/name_f]/[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] is the Greek spirit of truth, truthfulness, and sincerity.

Or maybe [name_f]Antheia[/name_f]/[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] the spirit of flowers and flowery wreaths (for the flower theme. I could find you tons of goddess/spirit names for flowers). But I think this rhymes more

[name_f]Lucina[/name_f] [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] is gorgeous

[name_f]Althea[/name_f] is one of my fav names, because of nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
There is a version [name_f]Elthia[/name_f], I hate the spelling but I prefer the eh sound to ah. It’s softer. And it pairs better with rose. You can keep the [name_f]Althea[/name_f] spelling and say it however you like.
[name_f]Devora[/name_f] is such a cool name. nn vera?
