Lucinda vs Lucia

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries

I wondered what are your general thoughts on these two names, [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. I am considering them for longer forms of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I know [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] can be used on it’s own but I generally like longer names.

So a few questions for you all…

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] more? I pronounce [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (Loo-see-ah), not sure how to spell pronunciations. I don’t like the pronunciations (Loo-chee-ah) or (Loo-sha).

Which name is better for a English speaking person? I live in the UK. I only have UK heritage. So does my partner.

Which name sounds nicer with my partner’s surname [name_u]Abbott[/name_u]?

Which name sounds more English? I am thinking [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] but want to know others opinions.

Thanks for answering any of the questions above.

I prefer [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] in general, but I think [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] sounds better with your surname. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_u]Abbott[/name_u] blend together when I say them, but for some reason [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] [name_u]Abbott[/name_u] doesn’t have that issue. If she only goes by [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], though, it shouldn’t be a problem. Also, [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] sounds very English to me. Good luck!

I love [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]! I would love to hear this underused classic more often. I think it sounds great with your surname and you won’t have to worry about pronunciation issues.

I like both, though generally prefer [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. However I prefer [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] with your surname, and it feels more English to me.

I agree with previous posters: I like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] more usually, but with [name_u]Abbott[/name_u] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] sounds great.

I think [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] sounds more English, but I prefer [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], which sounds fresher and less uptight. I think they both sound equally pleasant with [name_u]Abbott[/name_u].
