[name]Lucien[/name] for me as in Freud.

I prefer [name]Lucius[/name]. Sure, there’s Malfoy, but I prefer the “s” endings over the “n” endings. They feel cooler and classier to me.

Giving this a nudge back to the first page…[name]Lucius[/name] remains ahead by one vote so far!

[name]Lucius[/name], hands down. It’s more esthetically pleasing to my eyes, I love the two s-sounds, it feels light a starry ice cold winter’s night, like a whisper… And there’s [name]Lucius[/name] Malfoy. Now, I know he’s not the nicest man in the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] universe, but man is he hot!!! In the books, yes, and the movies… major crush on [name]Jason[/name] Isaacs in general, but the hair and the clothes and the ice cold manners is just too good. I’m in general fascinated by the hotti-ness of the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] movies. But I’m going to stop as this is not a hot man discussion. Bad pregnant lady!

I love both names but I slightly prefer [name]Lucian[/name]. It’s a softer choice. [name]Lucius[/name] may get “luscious”. I’m not into [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] so I could care less with that assocation.

I pronounce them with only two syllables: LOO-shen and LOO-shus.

Well I prefer Lucius…I may be a bit biased though

I love Lucius because of its history (makes me think of big strong Roman soldiers). But I also love how tough and masculine it is yet how soft it can sound. It just gives off a feeling of light (obviously) and makes me think of sunshine and shooting stars. Also I love the name Lucifer (but could never use it because the majority of people think of the devil which… technically they are completely separate beings but whatever) and its nice to have that small angel connection.

You just can’t get those same things with Lucian. And with Lucian…it kind of just bores me just looking at it. Also I can’t for the life of me remember how to pronounce it. I think there will be a bit more confusion over the spelling (because of Lucien). It just doesn’t have that ancient world charm…for me anyway

I pronounce the name Loo-shus.

I prefer [name]Lucian[/name].

I visually like [name]Lucius[/name] better but like the sound of [name]Lucian[/name] better.
Also [name]Lucius[/name] is just one of the villain names that keep popping up all over the place.
[name]Even[/name] if you decide you don’t mind, I think it’s worth consideration while naming a child.

Thanks, everyone, so far!

@ottilie, I don’t really approve of hot man discussions, but with everything you said about the name you may have made [name]Lucius[/name] my favorite name–at least for today! Gotta admit [name]Lucius[/name] Malfoy is a snappy dresser (till Voldemort’s rise, anyway…things only go downhill from there.) I love the name [name]Narcissa[/name], too–and [name]Draco[/name] is awfully cool; this is creepy. The [name]Black[/name]/Malfoy families certainly had awesome taste in names (well except for Nymphadora–that was a bit much.) I shall be following your new naming journey with great interest–wouldn’t it be cool if you got to use [name]Lucius[/name] yourself?

@mischa, one of my problems with these names is that I cannot decide which pronunciations I prefer! I tend toward LOO-shus and LOO-see-en, which is inconsistent. I like the three-syllable pronunciation of [name]Lucius[/name], with those double-S hissing sounds, but I think most Americans will say LOO-shus.

@clairedelune, your birth announcement was one of the factors that made me decide to post this poll–so nice to see someone use [name]Lucius[/name] in real life!

@lexiem, like I said, both names have pros and cons…there are a lot of good guys named [name]Lucius[/name], too–[name]Lucius[/name] [name]Fox[/name] from Batman, [name]Lucius[/name] “Frozone” from The Incredibles…and the little boy in Gladiator…if I ever was seriously considering these names for a son, though, the villain-factor would definitely be taken into account.

Agreed with this, plus I love the French pronunciation of [name]Lucien[/name], it’s so sweet and handsome at the same time.

I voted for [name]Lucien[/name]. I also say [name]Lucius[/name] “LOO-shus” and [name]Lucian[/name]/[name]Lucien[/name] “LOO-see-en”. Weird

Anyway, I like [name]Lucius[/name] too but I don’t like that is looks like a misspelling of luscious.

[name]Just[/name] one more bump to the first page–[name]Lucian[/name]/[name]Lucien[/name] has stampeded past [name]Lucius[/name]!

@essjay, I love the French pronunciation too but could never get away with it here…

And emsky, [name]Lucius[/name]'s resemblance to “luscious” is certainly something to consider.

I love both. Great names!!! I vote for [name]Lucian[/name], but I would love to see either on a little boy.

My husband and I love these names and have been going back in forth about which one to use! His favorite is [name]Lucius[/name] and my favorite is [name]Lucien[/name] we like the nn [name]Luc[/name].
