Lucky in daughters

This [name]December[/name] we will be adding another girl to our family! She will be the youngest of three girls and our last:) We feel like we will feel complete as a family when she arrives.
Her big sisters are [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] ([name]Sylvie[/name]) and [name]Josephine[/name] [name]May[/name] ([name]Josie[/name]). [name]Sylvie[/name] was named after my father because they share the same birthday and [name]Josie[/name] was named after grandparents we have lost.

We love classic, vintage names and we [name]LOVE[/name] nicknames!!!

*Also my husband and I have been tossing around the idea of having a name that has a masculine nickname such as [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Charley[/name]). [name]Just[/name] to have a sense of humor about everyone saying: “oooh three girls and no boys”.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Some suggestions:
[name]Marion[/name] “[name]Mari[/name]”
[name]Lucille[/name] “[name]Lucy[/name]”
[name]Theresa[/name] “[name]Tessa[/name]”
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (any [name]Elizabeth[/name] nicknames - [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Liz[/name], [name]Beth[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Bess[/name])
[name]Justine[/name] “[name]Jay[/name]” (this one covers your “haha we had a girl” without naming your child an actual boy name because you wanted/never had a boy)
[name]Claudette[/name] “[name]Ettie[/name]”
[name]Clarissa[/name] “[name]Clary[/name]”
[name]Amelia[/name] “[name]Amy[/name]” “[name]Melia[/name]” “[name]Lia[/name]”

I wouldn’t like to think my parents named/nicknamed me as a ‘joke’, no matter how innocent, no matter how pretty the name, it kinda taints the whole pure process.

I like previous poster’s suggestion of [name]Theresa[/name] with [name]Tessa[/name] or [name]Tess[/name] as a nn.

other ideas:

[name]Marguerite[/name] - [name]Maggie[/name] or [name]Margo[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] - [name]Penny[/name] or [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] - [name]Vivi[/name]

[name]Sylvia[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and …

[name]Evelyn[/name] “[name]Eve[/name]” “[name]Evie[/name]”
[name]Constance[/name] “[name]Connie[/name]”
[name]Eleanor[/name] “[name]Nora[/name]” “[name]Elle[/name]” “[name]Ella[/name]”
[name]Vivian[/name] / [name]Vivienne[/name] “[name]Viv[/name]” “[name]Vi[/name]”
[name]Florence[/name] “[name]Flo[/name]”
[name]Lillian[/name] " [name]Lily[/name]"
[name]Emmeline[/name] " [name]Emma[/name]" “[name]Emme[/name]” " [name]Emmy[/name]"
[name]Roberta[/name] " [name]Birdie[/name]" “[name]Bert[/name]” “[name]Robbie[/name]”
[name]Bernadette[/name] / [name]Bernadine[/name] “[name]Bernie[/name]”
[name]Lorelei[/name] " [name]Lori[/name]"
[name]Beatrice[/name] / [name]Beatrix[/name] “[name]Bea[/name]”
[name]Francesca[/name] " [name]Frankie[/name]"
[name]Alfreda[/name] " [name]Freddie[/name]"

[name]Sarai[/name] nn [name]Rai[/name]? (I say sur-[name]RYE[/name], but there’s also sare-AI).
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Candace[/name] nn [name]Candy[/name]? Or just [name]Candace[/name].
[name]Annalisa[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name] nn [name]Meri[/name]

I do think that the child with a boyish nickname may feel that her parents weren’t 100% joking and that they would have preferred a boy.

[name]Juliette[/name] “[name]Jet[/name]”
[name]Rosemary[/name] “[name]Rosie[/name]”
[name]Eleanor[/name] “[name]Nellie[/name]”
[name]Marcella[/name] “[name]Marcy[/name]”

I like [name]Charlotte[/name] with [name]Sylvia[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name].

[name]Juliana[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name] nn [name]Jules[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] nn [name]Willa[/name], [name]Willy[/name], [name]Minnie[/name], [name]Mina[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name] nn [name]Viv[/name], Vivy
[name]Andrea[/name] nn [name]Andy[/name], Dre
[name]Eloise[/name]/[name]Louise[/name]/[name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name], [name]LouLou[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cordy[/name], [name]Corey[/name], [name]Delia[/name]
[name]Frances[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Romy[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] nn [name]Vic[/name], [name]Tori[/name]
[name]Philomena[/name] nn [name]Phil[/name], [name]Philly[/name], [name]Mena[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Corey[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]/[name]Georgina[/name] nn [name]Georgie[/name], [name]Gia[/name]

I don’t have many new suggestions but I would like to second some that are already given

[name]Sylvia[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and …

[name]Edith[/name] “[name]Edie[/name]”
[name]Rosamund[/name] “[name]Rosie[/name]”
[name]Winifred[/name] “[name]Winnie[/name]”

[name]Eleanor[/name] “[name]Nora[/name]” “[name]Elle[/name]” “[name]Ella[/name]”
[name]Evelyn[/name] “[name]Eve[/name]” “[name]Evie[/name]”
[name]Marion[/name] “[name]Mari[/name]”
[name]Penelope[/name] “[name]Penny[/name]”
[name]Vivienne[/name] “[name]Vivi[/name]”
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] “[name]Willa[/name], [name]Willy[/name], [name]Minnie[/name], [name]Mina[/name]”

I would also avoid a masculine nickname.

[name]Evangeline[/name] nn [name]Angie[/name]/[name]Evie[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] nn [name]Ginny[/name]/[name]Evie[/name]
[name]Ariel[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] nn [name]Addy[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name]/[name]Lindy[/name]

I think [name]Adelaide[/name] would be cutest with [name]Sylvia[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name]!

Yeah, I don’t like the whole boyish nickname. I [name]LOVE[/name] Sylivia and [name]Josephine[/name]! [name]How[/name] about:

[name]Corinne[/name]/[name]Corinna[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]

I wouldn’t choose a name purely for a boyish nickname, but here are some ideas. Sorry for repeats:

[name]Eleanora[/name]/[name]Leonora[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] nn [name]Vic[/name]
[name]Danielle[/name] nn [name]Dani[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name] nn [name]Fred[/name], [name]Freddy[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name] nn [name]Cecil[/name]
[name]Theodosia[/name]/[name]Theodora[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Louise[/name]/[name]Eloise[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] nn [name]Will[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] nn [name]Georgie[/name]
[name]Philomena[/name] nn [name]Phil[/name]
[name]Thomasina[/name] nn [name]Thom[/name], [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Dominica[/name] nn [name]Dom[/name], [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Nick[/name]
[name]Marcella[/name] nn [name]Mace[/name], [name]Marcel[/name]
[name]Leandra[/name] nn [name]Lee[/name]
[name]Antonina[/name] nn [name]Toni[/name]/[name]Tony[/name], [name]Antony[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Matt[/name], [name]Mattie[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]/[name]Juliana[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name] nn [name]Jules[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name] nn [name]Jamie[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Beck[/name]
[name]Valerie[/name]/[name]Valeria[/name] nn [name]Val[/name]
[name]Carlotta[/name] nn [name]Carl[/name]

You could also just choose a name similar to your style that could be used for a boy:
[name]August[/name]
[name]Basil[/name]
[name]Francis[/name]/[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Garnett[/name]/[name]Garnet[/name]
[name]Jules[/name]
[name]Carmine[/name]
[name]Antoine[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Clemens[/name]/[name]Clemence[/name]

Wow, harsh. Although you obviously have strong feelings on the matter your response taints my image of this website which I always viewed as an open an welcoming place to share ideas.
Not that I feel the need to further justify our idea but my husband and I refer to our girls often as Syl and [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. So they are already masculine in nature. I view every child as a gift and joy and I feel bad that you feel it is ok to belittle other people’s choices. Maybe you should take into account if you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say anything at all.

I didn’t read the other posts so sorry for repeats.
