Both! But, if I had to pick, [name_f]Polly[/name_f].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I think that they’re both super sweet. But I voted for [name_f]Polly[/name_f], because it feels even more old fashioned & way less popular.

polly is one of my absolutely favorite names (#2, actually!!) i adore it so much, and it works if you want to honor someone with a marian name.

polly feels so much sweeter and more unique than lucy.

I voted for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] because I like the meaning and the simple, versatile quality, but [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is very fun!

So tough because they’re both gorgeous and also both from my favourite book

I went with [name_f]Polly[/name_f] in the end though

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean [name_f]Narnia[/name_f]? Because I have them from those books!!

I adore [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! It’s sweet and storybook but there’s something about that plosive P sound at the start that gives it more sass than its (near)-rhyming sisters, like [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] or [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilly[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is sweet too but a bit ubiquitous and without that balance of hard and soft sounds that I really love about [name_f]Polly[/name_f].

No, from a book called Villette!! I’d forgotten there was a [name_f]Polly[/name_f] in Narnia!!

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]!
I have a difficult time taking [name_f]Polly[/name_f] seriously. Sorry.

I love both but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is on my own list, so that’s where my vote went

Both are lovely, I prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] over [name_f]Polly[/name_f] as a full name because I find [name_f]Polly[/name_f] a bit too… cutesy? [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] shares its sweetness but, IMO, sounds more versatile for old and young

I’d rather forgotten there was a [name_f]Polly[/name_f] in [name_f]Villette[/name_f]! M. [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Emanuel[/name_m] alone would make the book worth the read–such a unique, funny, annoying and charming personage.

I like both, but I voted for [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. It’s been a favorite for years, and we considered it when we were first looking at girl names my first pregnancy. It has an old-fashioned quirky charm that hasn’t been dulled yet by popularity (I hear [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] a lot these days), and [name_f]Polyhymnia[/name_f] is a GP of mine. [name_u]An[/name_u] acquaintance used [name_f]Polly[/name_f] for her daughter a year or two ago, and I was thrilled–might have second thoughts about using it myself, now, though.
