We’ve narrowed it down to two combos for our baby girl due in December. We’ll probably wait until she is born to decide, but curious what your thoughts are!
They both have a subtle Christmas/winter meaning, Lucy (light) and Sylvie (from the forest). Grey is a name we’ve liked for ages and James is a family name. I would also like to use Lulu/Lu as a nn for Lucy. If you have any cute nn ideas for Sylvie, let me know! Ln is M@cKimmie.
I love the vibe of both! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is just so cute, it feels like it can’t be womanly, whereas [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] feels both light and adaptive Lucy’s clear and bright and rosy, Sylvie’s got more mystique to it
I like both! I voted [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] mostly because I find the flow better. Would you consider [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]?
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]! Nicknames that come to mind are - [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] / [name_f]Vi[/name_f] / Vie / Vee / V
[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. It’s a little brighter and spunkier than [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] to me, more the vibe I get from your names generally. And it’s one of my favourite subtle seasonal names for a [name_u]December[/name_u] baby
I like both, but slightly prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. It’s mainly because I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a stand alone name, whereas I much prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] as a nn to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. And [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] gives you more nn options. Any nns that could work for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] wouldn’t come very naturally, I wouldn’t think. They’re both great names though! Hopefully she’ll come out w/a name tag.
Oh goodness, both are so lovely, and the subtle seasonal ties are perfect I voted for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] because I particularly love both of those names (and Lulu/Lu is adorable!), but you really can’t go wrong here!
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] just wins it for me, I think because it feels… brighter? But it’s so close! Pros and cons of each: [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a classic, perennial name currently enjoying fairly high popularity. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is much rarer and never appeared on the US charts until 2016. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], though a complete name, would possibly get a lot of “short for Sylvia?”.
Overall, both are melodic and lovely and give me the same pretty, graceful-in-a-youthful-way feel. They’re adorable on little ones, but not cutesy.
I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and it’s still a little less loved than [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a beautiful name, but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] just feels like a star.
Oh, both are just so beautiful! I actually have a daughter named [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] so of course that is my vote! Yet, I do love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] as well! Both names feel bright and stylish.
Another suggestion of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is one of my very favorite combinations. I also love the family connection it has for you.
I also wanted to add, that while I do love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] also, I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] sounds best with your surname.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] M@cKimmie is a very memorable name!
