Hi there, we have one week to go and have narrowed down our name list to two: Lucy or Eloise. I’m curious to hear which names you all prefer! My husband slightly prefers Eloise and I slightly prefer Lucy, but we could really go either way at this point and are running out of time! I’d love to hear your opinions as well as see the results of the poll [poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
Elosie feels ‘trendy’ to me, while [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] feels classic and cozy. Both are definitely delightful, but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is the winner for me.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a NN to me and I can’t see it as a full name. It seems incomplete. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is classic, less common (usually) but still well known enough. I have also never met a pet named [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] but have met many named [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
As someone said above, I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] sounds incomplete sometimes depending on what it is paired with so here’s a little spice-up as well as pairing it with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! Both of these orders sound lovely and unique to me!
But honestly, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is classic and you can’t go wrong. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] was in the top 100 last year but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] was as well and has been historically used more frequently (in [name_u]America[/name_u], at least!)
I like both but I am more partial to [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] are pretty
Both are absolutely wonderful! I personally prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] myself, but I don’t think you can go wrong! Both are timeless, versatile classics with wonderful meanings (when considering specifically the “famous warrior” meaning of Eloise) I would also like to point out that I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] could be a nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] if you wanted it to be. Although it does seem a bit stretchy on the surface, I think it could work in practice!
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] by a pretty narrow margin. I’m a bit burned out on [name_f]El[/name_f]- names at the moment so that might be what swayed my vote. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] could be a stretchy nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] so you could maybe do that and get to use both.
My name’s Eloise and it’s one of my daughter’s middle names. Lucy is a family name so it’s also meaningful to me.
Both could be seen as trendy - under the El and L name trends - I know three Lucy girls under 5 among my friends (and a few Eloise teens).
I am biased but I find Eloise grander and more beautiful, but Lucy is classic and storybook sweet.
Maybe nicknames might help distinguish: Eloise (Elle, Ellie, Ella, Elsie, Elo, Lo, Lola, Lou, Lilou, Lois) or Lucy (Lou, Lilou, Lulu, Luce, Lola, Lux, Cee, Ceci). You may not use nicknames much and if you do, some are transferable / apply to both, but this might be a plus for one of them.
I absolutely love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] she’s elegant, sweet, preppy and feels fun. I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is lovely. Whereas [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] has never appealed to me all I hear is the word ‘loose’ and where I am Lucy’s tend to be in their mid thirties so the name doesn’t feel as fresh as [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
What a tough choice! [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is elegant and sweet, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is strong, literary and lovely. I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is my fave but you can’t go wrong
Both are lovely choices, and you really can’t go wrong. I chose [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] because I find it to be less common (I know plenty of Lucy’s but only 2 Eloise’s)
I’ve met dozens of Lucys but only one [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], who went by Elu. I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is timeless, sweet, innocent. Whereas [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a little more unusual, romantic, grown up and has lots of fun nickname options. Out of the current oversaturation of [name_f]El[/name_f]- names, it’s possibly my favourite because it still feels unexpected.
Both absolutely gorgeous names!
I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] might win ever so slightly for me, due to the wonderful character in [name_f]Narnia[/name_f], and the “light” meaning. But you definitely can’t go wrong with either choice!
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is perfect. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is timeless. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is likely to end up another [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], unfortunately.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! Our little girl was born [name_u]June[/name_u] 18th and we ended up going with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f].
