Lucy vs Marigold

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there,

I have a son named [name_u]Milo[/name_u] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]. Our last name is [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m]. I’m thinking [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for our daughter, but I also love [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] has the same ring to it, but am considering [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] as a first nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] (not sure about the middle)
[name_u]Milo[/name_u] + [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Milo[/name_u] + [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

Thoughts?

Both are amazing! I think I prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], so precious

I prefer marigold . [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is also great and breaks away from the m theme for siblings.

Slightly prefer marigold

I love [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] with [name_u]Milo[/name_u], I think it has that same sweet, familiar but a little unexpected feel that her brother’s name also has!

I like [name_u]Milo[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] together. I actually think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] sounds lovely together.

What a tough choice!

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is classic, bright and sweet, with strength, spark and literary vibes! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u] have a charming ring, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] V-C sounds great and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is lovely!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is cute and cosy, but with sass too! It has that cottagecore vibe, a bit of ‘clunky-cuteness’ too! [name_u]Milo[/name_u] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] are a lovely set!

Marigold/Goldie is more distinctive, more fun? It’s less popular too. However, she would then share an initial with her brother, if that bothers you.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] feels like the more ‘expected’ choice with [name_u]Milo[/name_u]? Safer (nevertheless beautiful), and more popular, but gives her a unique initial?

Such a tough choice. I’d probably go with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as I like it better as a name

I vote for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] because it has the same Nicknamey, sweet, cheerful, familiar, classic feel as [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is beautiful, but a bit more golden and grand, and I don’t like the repeating Ms at the beginning of [name_u]Milo[/name_u] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is distinctly a first “favorite.” [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a more reasonable option. Unless you still really love a middle name like Rainbow-Heart. Then, by all means, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. [name_u]Honest[/name_u] and forthright feedback and just an opinion <3

I echo the others in the feel of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] feeling clunky. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] on the other hand… classy.

I prefer [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] much more. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] would be gorgeeeeous.

I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is a great fit

[name_u]Milo[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] style wise seem like a great fit.

But [name_u]Milo[/name_u] & [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], though style wise seem mismatched, really work great together. Especially with the 'm’s tying them together.

Both are great, my preference is definitely [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is my favourite :blossom:

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] she’s bright, warm and cosy. I love the connection to autumn that overall autumnal feel evokes imagery of pretty orange leaves, oversized jumpers, pumpkins and apple spiced scents they make me smile. I love how refreshing and unexpected she feels. I also really like the nickname [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. However [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] does put you in that theme of ‘m’ letter which you may not like.

I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] for me I just hear the word ‘loose’ however I do think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] works well with [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. They have a similar spunky feel.

Have you thought of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] as a first name? [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is beautiful, fashionable and bright. I think [name_u]Milo[/name_u] + [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] sound beautiful together. However I’m saying this and I’m not sure if she’s a true contender but I like it.

Anyways back to the question I love [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. Middle names for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] I wanted to put forward [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] she’s a bohemian dream :sparkles:

I wouldn’t use [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], even as a middle name, with your surname. I dislike the repeating Cle- sounds. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] goes well with your surname, and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is sweet. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u] go well together - I’d go with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].

I love all your options, so I’m really not much help, because I think whatever you go with goes swimmingly with your son’s name and your last name as well as being absolutely gorgeous.

I will offer up that if you’re looking for a middle for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], I do love the idea of [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! I feel like you never see [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] in the middle name spot, so it’s refreshing in a way!

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is wonderful, but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are two of my biggest favourites and I love them and the combo so much!

I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] because it’s just a more simple, classic name and nicer to say, more soothing (just my opinion). [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] to me is nice but I don’t know…maybe a little pretentious? I also like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] with your surname it has a nice flow.

Lucy Van Cleve flows so sweetly - and has something authoritative, trustworthy, and timeless about it too. I would almost immediately trust a Lucy VC! Also, Van and Cleve are strong names and imageries so Lucy softens the name just like Milo. I’m not sure about Clementine as a middle with Cleve (ie the repeat Clem sounds) but it is a very cool, soothing, storybook name. It’s nice that it has the same syllable count as Milo. My personal hesitation with Lucy is I don’t love the “loose” sound and think there are better ways to Lou/Lu/Lulu.

Marigold Van Cleve is more intense with so many strong letters and sounds - it’s more of a showstopper than Lucy, is as equally artsy as Milo, but flows slightly less easily as a whole (though definitely not an issue - it’s a fun name to say!). I would use Lucy as the middle which also strengthens Goldie as a nickname. Lucy is much prettier to me in second spot. Individual name is more important than “sibset” but if you’re having more kids - espec

I think if Marigold is in your heart, and you love Goldie, you’ll more likely regret not choosing it than regret not choosing Lucy, especially if you use Lucy as a middle. I would choose :orange_heart:Marigold Lucy Van Cleve!

Other suggestions:

Lucy Marigold (would keep on list)
Lucy Meadow (so pretty and a nice link to Milo)
Daisy Lucia / Lucette / Lisette
Lucy Magnolia
Magnolia Lucy “Maggie”
Sunday Lucy “Sunny”
Sunday Katherine “Suki”

Hope this helps!

Please go with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]!!
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u] work beautifully together.

I know this forum absolutely adores [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - it’s beautiful and works great in hypothetical combos or as a GP name, but it feels a bit over the top and out there for a real baby.
I know everyone’s different, but I know for one I’d really dislike to be called [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], especially with such a nice, classic, normal, sweet name like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] that was an option.

Ultimately, it is your decision, but just wanted to give my two cents.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is actually stunning though and would incorporate both names. And [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] gives her the option of a more out there name if she wishes so in the future.

P.S. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] has such a beautiful flow. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Cleve[/name_m] - a lot less so.

Good luck!
