My husband and I love the name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (our top choice by far). My husband’s name is [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (pronounced Lewis). He thinks the names might be too similar and could be confusing. (I sometimes call him [name_u]Lou[/name_u].)
Thoughts?
I think it depends on how your husband pronounces [name_m]Louis[/name_m]. If he pronounces it the same of [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], then I think it’s fine, if he pronounces it the [name_m]French[/name_m] way then it’s far too similar.
I don’t think it really matters honestly, but no, I don’t think they are too similar. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is beautiful!
I mean, I don’t really think that there is such a thing as ‘too similar’, it just depends on what you’re comfortable with. I grew up in a household where we were (including parents): [name_u]Gilly[/name_u], [name_m]Jim[/name_m], [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] and [name_u]James[/name_u], and it was never really a problem. If anything, it can be quite nice to have a connection like that with your parent’s name, especially if it’s not too pronunced.
I think that, as long as you’re comfortable with the slight similarity in sounds, you should go ahead and use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. It’s a lovely name, and for me it doesn’t cause any problems in the slightest.

They’re similar, but I don’t think they’re so similar that it’s a dealbreaker. It’s kind of a cute connection, actually. I could see it resulting in confusion if you also planned to call your daughter [name_f]Lu[/name_f]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u], but that’s easily avoided.
I don’t think they’re too similar- I’d say go for it!
I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] are totally fine.
My DH is [name_m]Ross[/name_m] we have a dd [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and have no issues.
We also have [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] as a top contender for another girl.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is so cute! I don’t think they’re too similar. It’d even be cute if you called her [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], like a lil mini version of your husband!
