Hi! I really love the name Lucy, but I have a 2 syllable last name that ends in an ‘ee’ sound (kinda like F0ley). Can I still use Lucy or is that a no-go? Appreciate it
I think it’s totally fine! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] F0ley for example sounds perfectly normal to me.
I think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_m]Foley[/name_m] is fine! If you are worried about it, you could use a longer name with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nickname (like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_m]Foley[/name_m], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] Foley)?
I probably wouldn’t do it but it’s okay. It’s a little too matchy/singsongy for me but it doesn’t make it hard to say, whether this ruins it for you would be a personal choice.
Thank you for the thoughtful replies!
I think it’s fine! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] F0ley is the name of a published author after all
Absolutely, you can. I know a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] L@emmli and a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] P@uli, and both sound perfectly fine in real life. The only thing that would be a real problem if your last name rhymed with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], like Busey.
It’s absolutely fine.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_m]Foley[/name_m] is totally alright. It’s not [name_f]Fatima[/name_f] [name_f]Satima[/name_f].
I had no idea but thank you! That isn’t actually our last name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a similar example!
Sounds totally normal!
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] F0ley is an author so this or something similar sounds fine to me. Agree with another pp that if the surname also ended in the -cy (see) sound this would be too much, but an -ee ending is fine.
I’m in the same boat! I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but our surname sounds like Bundy. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband just can’t seem to get behind it
I know a girl with a name similar to Lucy Foley! It sounds perfectly fine to me!
