This was the name of one of my grandmothers, and I’d really like to hear some feedback on it.
I’m curious to hear if people think it would be usable for a girl today.
Would you use it for a first or a middle? What would you pair Ludema with?

I think of it more as a surname, but these days people use surnames as first names, so I don’t really foresee that being an issue.
The name isn’t my taste, but I love the use of family names!
What is the origin of the name and how do you pronounce it?
I know the name [name]Ludmila[/name]. Is it related?
I love Ludema as a first name. I think it is definitely usable for a girl today. In fact, I recently posted the origin and details of this name on my blog.
Interesting! I had no idea that this was a surname, too.
I’m not really sure about the origins of the name–she was born in Oklahoma in the twenties, and there appears to be another Ludema (her aunt, I think) a bit further back in the family tree, though she seems to have spelled it Luedema instead.
I love your blog!
The name definitely sounds old-fashioned. I think the nicknames [name]Lulu[/name] and [name]Demi[/name] are very cute and and I’m sure a modern girl would love those nns.
It sounds too much like edema to me.

Thank you [name]Fay[/name]!
