It’s pretty but I guess I’d worry that people would hear [name_f]Luna[/name_f] first all her life. Not the biggest deal though and that’s easily corrected. Sounds dreamy and romantic.
I love both Luma and [name_f]Lumi[/name_f]. A quick search reveals that [name_f]Luma[/name_f] does seem Arabic, ok so is [name_f]Layla[/name_f], so I don’t know whether that means anything for you in terms of usability. [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] is Finnish and another favorite of mine.
Thank you all for your replies! It’s nice to know that Luma has Arabic/Muslim ties. While I am not a part of that culture, that would not directly impact usability for me.
I had forgotten about [name_f]Lumi[/name_f], which a few of you mentioned, and yes, it’s lovely!
It’s nice to hear the connections that people make to the name, so thank you for the comments about the friend named Luma and the Brazilian actress as well.
I understand the concern that it would constantly be misheard as [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. That still seems like the biggest con to me. Nevertheless, I’ll keep Luma in my lists.
To be honest, I think you and or your child will probably get a lot of “Did you say [name_f]Luna[/name_f]?”. So if you’re ok with that, then go for it.
pretty!!! there are so many variations of names these days i would go for it! i know a [name_f]Nyla[/name_f], [name_u]Nila[/name_u]…I think luma is pretty and actually prettier than [name_f]Luna[/name_f], the M makes it softer
I loveee Luma!! It feels magical without being “floofy” if that makes sense. It has a sophisticated grounded feel to it and although I’m sure it would be constantly confused with [name_f]Luna[/name_f], it feels more mature and antiquated(?) in a good way than [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love! Wish I had encountered this name before I finished having kids! Damn. lol
