I found Lumen (Latin for light) categorized as a boy’s name on another site, but I know Lumen was used as a female character’s name on [name]Dexter[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think it is a boy’s or girl’s name?
I would say female. Can’t say I like it much though. Reminds me of the insides of arteries and atherosclerosis and kidneys and all the human biology stuff I did at sixth form
I love the name Lumen. I really could see it working for either sex, but I personally prefer it used for females. I personally like how it sounds strangely scientific. It sounds both warm and mysterious to me.
No, no, no. CP1 is correct: the lumen is the interior of either the intestine or a blood vessel.
It sounds fine for either a boy or a girl
Yes, but it is also
a measure of the total “amount” of visible light emitted by a source
Something about Lumen just sounds “dirty” like a name for a lubricant, so I can’t see it working on a real person…
It’s also not really a name, it’s a unit of measurement, it’s like naming your kid Inches or Feet.
BUT I guess if I had to choose, probably better on a girl than a boy.
Thank you! I have said this to every single person who has suggested this name. Its anatomical meaning ruins it for me, plus I just don’t think it has a pleasant sound.
Maybe Lumi or [name]Lumina[/name]?
This is exactly what I thought.
I can’t identify it as a boy or a girl’s name. If you chose [name]Anna[/name] [name]Luz[/name] (looz) that would be pretty or [name]Blaise[/name].
My first thought: catheter lumen
It’s way too sciency of a name for me to like on either a boy or a girl. I do like the suggestion of Lumi (for a girl).
