Lumen, Milton, Luther, & Giffard

a lot of questions here… (:

What do you think of Lumen? boys or girls name…
Are [name]Milton[/name]; [name]Luther[/name]; or [name]Giffard[/name] ready for a comeback?

is [name]Milton[/name] really suitable for a girl? according to Nameberry the original way to [name]Millie[/name]? other nicknames can be [name]Mil[/name], [name]Miltie[/name], and Malt!
[name]Luther[/name]… nickname [name]Lu[/name]? it’s cute!

and [name]Giffard[/name]; I am feeling it.
thoughts?

I personally have adored the name [name]Milton[/name] for years–for a boy.
I do not dig it at all for a girl.
The name [name]Millie[/name], however, is very cute for a girl.

I’ve seen a number of people recently considering [name]Lux[/name] for girls. Lumen not so much. I see it as a measurement, not a name.

[name]Milton[/name] - if I free myself from past associations, I could like it. Not for a girl, though. My taste definitely doesn’t run to nicknames of 100 years ago. I think by “original”, it means “it would be a creative/unique way”, not “it was the first way.”

[name]Luther[/name] - exactly what I’d like if I didn’t associate it with more than one fictional villain. Maybe eventually I’ll get past that. [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Lu[/name], though - I think of that as a girl’s nickname first.

[name]Giffard[/name] - I like [name]Willard[/name] and even [name]Maynard[/name], not feeling this one. Maybe it’s the similarity to [name]Clifford[/name], maybe the less-desirable and slightly silly meaning.
