What do you think? Would this name be too weird or just right? What kind of girl do you picture with this name? What color is [name]Lumina[/name]? Thanks!
[name]Love[/name] Lumi, it’s my top choice at the moment, but I’m in finland so it doesn’t seem so strange here. [name]Lumina[/name] is nice but does feel a bit much to me since I like the simpler version. I don’t do colours or specific types with names, sorry.
Unfortunately, I picture the Chevrolet [name]Lumina[/name].
It came in a strange blue-y green-y colour particularly endemic to the '90s.
I second what stripedsocks said about the car.
I think Lumi could fit in well enough. At least as well as [name]Lumina[/name]! [name]Do[/name] you like other Finnish names?
I have toyed with things like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Miriam[/name] nn Lumi or [name]Luna[/name] Miette or [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Micheala[/name] nn Lumi, etc., you could try something like that, if Lumi is too bold.
Me, too. My first two cars were [name]Chevy[/name] Luminas, so I find it really hard to picture it on an actual child/person, lol. Otherwise, I think it looks very pretty. My two Luminas were black and then a maroonish color, so I guess I see those, kind of, when I see [name]Lumina[/name]. I also think of a bright, glowing, soft orange, when I try and get rid of the car reference.
I like [name]Lumina[/name] more than Lumi, though–Lumi just doesn’t sound that attractive to me, if I’m saying it right (LOO-mee?). I would love [name]Lumina[/name] nn [name]Mina[/name] so much more.
I think of the car as well, I also think it sounds like a beauty product, I can imagine [name]Lumina[/name] foundation or eyeshadow.
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Miriam[/name] nn Lumi or [name]Luna[/name] Miette nn Lumi are adorable! I really like those. I am totally digging ‘[name]Lou[/name]’ names in general lately. [name]Mina[/name] as a nickname is great! I like that, too, but I know I’d probably call her Lumi more often. I feel like [name]Mina[/name] is a more wearable nickname option for school and such. I do say Lumi as LOO-mee. I think it is so cute and warm. I really like the idea of having a nickname that is fresh and unculled by the masses. I have a HUGE crush on [name]Lumina[/name]. It seems so unused, feminine, & unique without being made-up. Thanks for all the helpful feedback. I didn’t even know it was a car! My fiance crossed [name]Sienna[/name] off my list because it is a car to him. I hope he doesn’t feel as strongly abt [name]Chevy[/name] Luminas. I guess we’ll just have to see. Please feel free to comment further, suggest names, or give your opinion. Thanks Berries!
I think [name]Lumina[/name] nn Lumi is wonderful! I feel the same way that you do about Lumi, and I’d love to see it in use.
I love ‘Lumi’. Used to work with a Luminita which is apparently a Romanian name meaning ‘little light’. We all called her Lumi. I actually have Luminita on our list but DH won’t even consider it.
I really like [name]Lumina[/name] and Lumi both, and I love jesba’s idea of using it as a nickname for something like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]! [name]How[/name] perfect.
I’m not really a car person, so I wouldn’t have made the [name]Chevy[/name] [name]Lumina[/name] connection on my own, but it does sound familiar now that other people mention it. Similarly, just the other day I was reading an article about [name]Prince[/name] [name]Harry[/name] and his supposed girlfriend, who was named [name]Cressida[/name], and it made me think about how nice the name [name]Cressida[/name] was, and then I scrolled down and half of the comments were about the Toyota [name]Cressida[/name]. It’s a bit inconvenient, but I’m not really sure if either association bothers me that much.
I’m probably the only one who gets this association (having grown up in the 90’s watching obscure cartoons on tv) but I think of an old Japanese animation cartoon called Gundam [name]Wing[/name] that used [name]Lumina[/name] as a name. I don’t even remember what character she was, but I remember the name from that. So I picture a cartoon character.
As far as color goes, I get a very soft, glowy, peachy-yellow vibe. HTH!
[name]Lumina[/name] is pretty if not a little glitzy. I definitely second what Thetxbelle said; it sounds like a brand of eyeshadow.
As for Lumi, I don’t know if I’m saying it right ([name]Lou[/name]-mee?) but it just doesn’t do anything for me. In fact, I prefer [name]Lumina[/name] to it. If you’re looking for a nickname what about…
[name]Lulu[/name], [name]Luna[/name], [name]Lou[/name], or [name]Mina[/name]?
