Luna Sylvie

I am 28 weeks pregnant with our girl, who we are decidedly naming [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. We are not open to a new first name.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] has sentimental value for us both, and we love it…but I do not know that I love it in the middle spot here.

The other candidate is [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f], which has much more flow and charm I think, but this name has no sentimental ties to it. It is just pretty, and we have decided we might like to save [name_f]Camille[/name_f] for a second daughter, should we be lucky enough to have one.

What do you think of the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]?
Her last name begins with R and is three syllables long.

Thanks for your input.

I think meaning trumps everything and it’s not bad at all. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a fine name. If you were going for flow alone, I’d choose a 1-syllable or 3-syllable, and ideally something starting with a hard consonant after the a-ending. BUT I think the meaning wins.

Unless you’re open to adding a second name? [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], for example. Definitely save [name_f]Camille[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] sounds great! Those are two of my favorite names and I love them together!

I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] are both beautiful! Since [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] holds sentimental value for you, I would say to pick [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and save [name_f]Camille[/name_f], as you mentioned. I honestly think they are equal in flow and charm.

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] :).

I don’t think it has the best flow. I do, however, like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]! Very stunning.

Congratulations! [name_f]Luna[/name_f] born in [name_f]October[/name_f], it’s perfect! I agree with what you said that [name_f]Camille[/name_f] has a more forgiving flow but in the end it’s just a pretty name. I vote sentimental value. Plus, with [name_f]Luna[/name_f] beginning to increase in popularity [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] gives it a more authentic, vintage flare and a bit of whimsy. In the end both are separately but equally stunning.

Thank you for this! I think having been obsessed with names for so long, when I finally came to naming my child I had lost sight of the things that really matter, such as her father liking the name TOO, and it having some sentimental value to us. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is absolutely not the name with the most flow or charm that I have come across or dreamt up, but I think it might be the right name for us. And as time goes on and we get nearer and nearer to meeting her, the flow and originality of her name have started to matter a little less than so many other things!

Thank you all very much for your replies! It remains somewhat undecided, but I think we are figuring it out. . . slowly.

I also vote [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f] is stunning, but [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] has a fighting whimsy. When using just her first and middle name, you could (for fun, of course) pronounce [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] in [name_m]French[/name_m] to give it the same rhythm as [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f].

I looooovvvee [name_f]Luna[/name_f] (totally biased though). I like both combos but slightly prefer [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is sweet though. If you really want to save [name_f]Camille[/name_f], I say go for it.

Sorry for not helping. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it sounds great. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is sweet.
