Is [name_f]Luna[/name_f] too trendy/popular??
I live in the US, in a rural town. I’ve never met anyone with the name but it’s high on the ranking list…

luna is quite trendy but that’s because it’s super sweet and pretty. i think, as you said it’s a very regional thing too i’ve never met or heard of a luna where i live.
What is too popular is a personal evaluation so it is difficult to know what is right for you but maybe you would like [name_f]Una[/name_f] or [name_f]Oona[/name_f]? They share much the same sound, are both beautiful, and probably less common/popular.
In my area [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is hardly popular at all. It’s a #1 favorite of mine.
I’ve had entire classes where every single girl was either [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_u]Avery[/name_u]!
I know [name_f]Luna[/name_f] ranks quite highly but I’ve only encountered one. It’s a bright and gorgeous name
There were only 74 “Luna’s” born in my state last year. That’s probably why I’ve never met one.
I think it depends on when popularity would be an issue for you/your daughter.
If it’s a problem when sharing her name in her elementary or high school class room, I wouldn’t worry about it if it’s not popular in your area. However, if you’re more worried about her sharing a name with countless other people once she goes off to college / has a job / as an adult; it’s always wise to consider not only the year your child will be be born in when it comes to popularity, but also how popular the name has been in the five years prior and if the name is shooting up the charts, meaning that it would get more popular in the five years after your child is born.
In the case of [name_f]Luna[/name_f], I believe it’s only going to get more popular in the next ten years, however, that being said, popularity doesn’t have to matter and none of the names that are currently trendy will feel/be as popular as [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], etc.
Good point!
It pretty common, but I’ve never met a baby [name_f]Luna[/name_f]! It’s cute, but I prefer [name_u]Nova[/name_u] as far as space themed names go.
I do really like Nova!! Plus I’m a car nerd and I love a [name_u]Nova[/name_u]!
I don’t know a single Luna, but as it’s popular among babies, if you had a child soon and named her Luna, she might meet lots of other Luna’s her age.
