I like the name [name_u]Lark[/name_u]- Pretty sound, easy to say, ESPECIALLY with my LN, the bird is smart & pretty. But… Then you think of nicknames. I like [name_m]Ary[/name_m], but guess what [name_u]Lark[/name_u] sounds like to bullies: Lurk. Would my little kid be “Lurking [name_u]Lark[/name_u]” throughout their days on the playground? Please drop honest answers.
I don’t think so! I honestly don’t think young children would think of the word lurk/lurking when they hear [name_u]Lark[/name_u].
I know a young girl named [name_u]Lark[/name_u] and she has no issues with her name! She goes by [name_f]Lala[/name_f] with her family! Lurk is not really a word kids think of–and I think they sound different enough that it may never come up at all.
I don’t think so at all! I would have never noticed that it sounded like lurk! I love the name [name_u]Lark[/name_u], especially for a boy!
I find it unlikely. [name_u]Lark[/name_u] and lurk/lurking don’t sound that similar to me. Plus, I think if kids/teens wanted to insult someone, they would use more offensive words than “lurking”.
I LOVE [name_u]Lark[/name_u]! Especilaly for a boy. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom calls me [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] and so I love the idea of sneaking [name_u]Lark[/name_u] into one ofmy children’s names… It’s one of my absolute favorite boy names, there’s something so cool about it.
I honestly don’t think your [name_u]Lark[/name_u] would ever get called that. Lurk isn’t a super commonly used name. I’m sure there’s some wordplay unpleasant nickname that could be thought of for any name. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom certainly considered those when naming me. But I think usually it’s overthinking and in real life, it probably would be fine As a former child and someone who has worked with children, I actually can’t remember any time that kids were teased for their name or had their name worked into a phrase like that. I’m sure it happens sometimes, but I think it shouldn’t stop you from using [name_u]Lark[/name_u]!
Agree with this.
Agree with others that I don’t think lurk is a word kids use! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] too.
seconding (thirding?) this sentiment!
I don’t think it would be a problem. I remember kids being teased for their name when I was a kid, but it was never a phrase like that. I also think kids today don’t bully as much over names.
