Lydia and Lucia-

Are [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] too similar for sisters?

They are both lovely names individually, but I feel they are a little too similar for siblings.

All the best

I think they are too similar, unless you are aiming for a theme with the names. They are both lovely names, though!

I personally wouldn’t use them for sisters because they are so similar. But if you really love them, it’s up to you!

I personally do think they’re too similar.

They’re both lovely, so I can see why you wouldn’t want to choose between them! I probably wouldn’t use them for sisters personally–they’re closer than I would like, especially because they share both a beginning and an ending–but I don’t think they’re unusable together if they’re your two clear favorites.

They are similar and i probably wouldnt do it but they arent unusably close

They’re both beautiful names but they are pretty close for sisters!

They’re a little too similar for me personally but I wouldn’t say they’re unusable as sisters, they sound different enough that I don’t think it would be as confusing as, say, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. It would depend on if you were planning on having any more children who might feel left out of the pattern, I think.

It’s feasible … but I wouldn’t recommend it. They’re quite similar; it even seems a little unfair to twins. You could of course use one or the other in a middle spot, try a variance ([name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] isn’t so bad!), or just say, “Eh, I’ll remember which is which!” and not overthink it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m in the minority but I really like to see and hear [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] together. I really don’t think they’re too similar (maybe I am not pronouncing the names as everyone else?). I would use them for siblings.

I agree that they’re probably too similar, but you could maybe use one as a middle? Like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]? I think it depends, in part, on how you say [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], too. I say loo-CHEE-ah, the Italian way, but LOO-shah is my second favorite, and I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and LOO-shah sound reasonably okay together. Not quite so matchy, but still matchy enough that I’d avoid it personally. :frowning:

Good luck!

I don’t think there super similar sounding but I personally think there a bit to alike for sisters. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] are similar to [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and don’t share the same ending as [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
