Lydia or Margaret?

I am having the hardest time choosing between the two. If we name her [name]Margaret[/name], we would call her [name]Greta[/name] most of the time. I love them both and could use your help in choosing one over the other.

I would just keep them both and then why you see her you’ll know  but personally, my favorite is [name]Lydia[/name], it’s just sweeter sounding. [name]Margaret[/name] always sounded harsh to me and I dislike [name]Greta[/name], if anything, [name]Maggie[/name] would make the name cuter.

I prefer [name]Margaret[/name] to [name]Lydia[/name]. Although [name]Lydia[/name] is an old Biblical name. I’ve always found it a bit weak and prissy (like another name from the Bible, [name]Priscilla[/name]). I love the saintly association and the royal connection with [name]Margaret[/name] and it gives you so many more nn options (although I love [name]Greta[/name]). [name]Lydia[/name] has now reached the top 100 names in the US (No# 96 - 3,051 girls) so I think [name]Margaret[/name] would be the more uncommon choice (No#187 - 1,681 girls). Maybe you should take both with you to the hospital and decide when you meet her! It’s always good to have a backup name just in case she “looks” like one more than the other.

I prefer [name]Margaret[/name] to [name]Lydia[/name], but prefer [name]Lydia[/name] to [name]Greta[/name]. I do like [name]Maggie[/name] though. [name]Greta[/name] is just harsh-sounding to me.

I’m also not a fan of [name]Greta[/name] but I like several other nicknames for [name]Margaret[/name]. My favorite is [name]Meg[/name].

It’s harder to decide between [name]Margaret[/name] itself and [name]Lydia[/name], but I prefer [name]Lydia[/name] to [name]Greta[/name].

I vote [name]Lydia[/name].

I feel the opposite from most pps…I prefer [name]Lydia[/name] to [name]Margaret[/name], but [name]Greta[/name] to [name]Lydia[/name].

I really like [name]Lydia[/name]. It was on my list for our new baby but my husband veto’d it. I think the “L” is gorgeous in cursive, very feminine but not too soft.

I am sorry I am not a [name]Margaret[/name] lover and my name is [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Margot[/name] and I think that [name]Margot[/name] is in a different league to [name]Margaret[/name] which I find harsh and unforgiving and [name]Margot[/name] has style and femininity.

I think [name]Lydia[/name] is the prettiest of names, very soft and feminine a real Greek classic to be loved now and for centuries to come, a great name for a lovely daughter.

I do like [name]Greta[/name] but I think that [name]Lydia[/name] gives a wider naming base for future siblings.

rollo

I prefer [name]Margaret[/name] over [name]Lydia[/name] by a landslide, and I really really love [name]Greta[/name] as nn.

I really like [name]Lydia[/name]. I think [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] would be a nice combo.

I love both, but I’m not a fan of the nickname [name]Greta[/name], so I’ll pick [name]Lydia[/name].

I prefer [name]Lydia[/name], it’s softer sounding than [name]Margaret[/name]. I like both though, but [name]Margaret[/name] isn’t my style.

I also prefer [name]Lydia[/name] to [name]Margaret[/name]. I like [name]Greta[/name] though.
