My husband and I are expecting our second daughter this winter and we’re torn between [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Lyla[/name]. We have a beautiful 2 year old, [name]Vera[/name] [name]Rose[/name], and we don’t know which name fits better!?!? Please share opinions of either name.
I like both [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Lyla[/name]. I would go with [name]Lucy[/name] with [name]Vera[/name] though. That way both names don’t have the same ‘a’ ending.
good [name]Luck[/name]!
I like [name]Lyla[/name] more (although I prefer the [name]Lila[/name] spelling), but I think [name]Lucy[/name] goes much better with [name]Vera[/name]–[name]Vera[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are adorable together!
I love both names but [name]Lucy[/name] has always been a special favorite of mine. [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] sound really cute and congrats!
I prefer [name]Lucy[/name], especially with sister [name]Vera[/name]. I grew up with a lot of [name]Lyla[/name], [name]Layla[/name], [name]Leila[/name], [name]Leia[/name], [name]Leah[/name]'s. so it seems overdone and dated to me.
What a dilemma! Given that I don’t know your surname, I think that they both pair beautifully with [name]Vera[/name].
[name]Lucy[/name] seems a little more lighthearted than [name]Vera[/name], a little younger, but the spirited nature of [name]Vera[/name] is well-matched. Also, if you are in to meanings, [name]Truth[/name] and [name]Light[/name] seem a very apt pair. If your surname has sibilants, you might want to be careful with [name]Lucy[/name].
I prefer the spelling [name]Lila[/name], especially with [name]Vera[/name]. [name]Both[/name] these names are beautiful, simple and dignified. [name]Lyla[/name] with a ‘y’ seems a bit trendier and, [name]IMO[/name], loses a little of that dignity.
So, I’m voting for [name]Lila[/name], but I don’t think you can go wrong with [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Lyla[/name] either. My only hesitation is that with [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lyla[/name] you are setting up a pattern. If you have another girl, will you want to continue, and, if so, is there another name that ends in - a that you’d want to add to the set?
I also prefer the spelling [name]Lila[/name] but both [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Lyla[/name] are very nice with [name]Vera[/name]. I love all three of these names and [name]Vera[/name] is one of my very very favorites! I also agree you are kind of setting up a patter with [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lyla[/name] for 2-syllable, 4-letter girls’ names ending in A, at the same time there are plenty of those that are nice so you really would still have options should you have more girls.
All the same, I mildly prefer [name]Lucy[/name]! But you have good options either way! Best wishes!
I love [name]Lucy[/name]. Cute, spunky and girly while it also ages well. [name]Lyla[/name] is going to be messed up pronounciation wise (lie-luh, lil-uh or lee-luh), so I’d go with [name]Lucy[/name].
I think [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] sound the best together. I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice though! They are both beautiful names.
I think [name]Lucy[/name] is so adorable but I am really loving [name]Lyla[/name] a lot lately!! Honestly, I am not sure which sounds better w/ [name]Vera[/name]. I think either choice would be sweet
I prefer [name]Lyla[/name], but I definitely prefer the spelling [name]Lila[/name]. I love the name [name]Lila[/name]! Good luck!
Paradoxically, [name]Lucy[/name] feels both sweeter and more substantial to me than [name]Lyla[/name]. [name]Vera[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is ardent and wonderful.
I agree with pp-- [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] repeat their ending sound, and in such short names it’s a bit much. I really like [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] together.
To pair with [name]Rose[/name], I would select an equally short middle for [name]Lucy[/name].
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Blaise[/name]
For [name]Vera[/name], I prefer [name]Lucy[/name]. Regardless, I prefer the [name]Lila[/name] spelling. [name]Hope[/name] that helps
lucy for sure.
