Lyle?

I am really liking [name]Lyle[/name] for a boy. But there are a few concerns: 1) Is it too weird? 2) Does [name]Lyle[/name] sound made up?
Please let me know what you think. Thanks. -[name]Madison[/name]

The only problem I have with [name]Lyle[/name] is the connection to [name]Lyle[/name] Menedez - who killed his parents with his brother. I can’t even remember the brother’s name, but [name]Lyle[/name] has always stuck with me :frowning:

I really like [name]Lyle[/name]. It’s not overused, but still recognizable as a real name. If you think it’s too nicknamey, there’s also [name]Carlisle[/name] and [name]Lionel[/name] which both have a similar sound.

I knew a ‘[name]Michael[/name] [name]Lyle[/name]’ at uni, [name]Lyle[/name] being his middle name. I quite like it in the middle spot but I’m not sure how well it works as a first name.

I like it. The [name]Lyle[/name] Menedez association won’t be a problem in my opinion. They are known as the Menedez brother’s, not by their specific names. At least, that is how I have always seen them called.

The Menendez brothers case, while very sad, was 20 years ago, and as Mara_lynn said, no one refers to them by their given names.

I think [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Lovett[/name], and you can go a lot worse than being a famous singer who landed [name]Julia[/name] [name]Roberts[/name].

It’s very, very smooth-- like [name]Giles[/name]. You have to drawl a bit (in a distinguished way) to even say it. I would pair it with a middle name full of consonants (i.e. [name]Broderick[/name]) to give it some heft.

[name]Lyle[/name] is cool, unusual but doesn’t sound made up. I think it helps that it rhymes with a well known name- [name]Kyle[/name], but isn’t similar in style to [name]Kyle[/name] at all. I like it a lot!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Lyle[/name]! I think it’s western/old fashioned without slapping you with it (looking at you, [name]West[/name] & [name]Colt[/name]).

Unfortunately I have a friend named [name]Kyle[/name] or this would be up at the top of my list

My boyfriend’s father is named [name]Lyle[/name]! I happen to love it. I agree that it has that western feel to it. I don’t find anything about it weird, and it doesn’t sound made up to me at all.

I like [name]Lyle[/name]- I think it has sort of a country feel, which I tend to like. I can picture a baby [name]Lyle[/name] and also an adult [name]Lyle[/name]. I worked with a [name]Lyle[/name] who was in his sixties and he is pretty awesome.
