[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries,
How do you think of the name [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it?
What’s your imagery for [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]?
How will be imagine a [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]? Have you met any IRL?
How will you instinctively pronounce it? LIE-RUH or LEE-RUH?
I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! Very much influenced by His [name_m]Dark[/name_m] Materials . For a short while it was my #1 girls name!
[name_f]My[/name_f] imagery for [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is wild, brave, mischievous, fun, fearless, and a little chaotic. She’s always on the move, can’t sit still, itching to run and play, going on adventures, and getting mucky. I feel like she’d be a whirlwind of energy, excitable, always laughing and grinning. She’d be the sort of person to drag her friends out making sure everyone’s included in having a great time. She’d love travelling and exploring, curious to learn about people and places, getting stuck in to everything.
I’ve never actually met a [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], but I believe a few celebs have used it recently, and I have wondered if the TV adaptation of the His [name_m]Dark[/name_m] Materials trilogy might have inspired a few parents. I feel like it could be a popular choice for people looking for something different, but familiar.
And I say LIE-ruh. I did hear it before I saw it, however I think I’d say it like that instinctively too.
I really like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! I love how she’s familiar and approachable, but still has a bit of a fantastical and whimsical romantic feel to her! It very specifically makes me think of green eyes, harps and magical snowy forests I’ve never met one IRL, and I pronounce it LEE-rah! I know the LIE-rah pronunciation is more common in English-speaking circles, but I personally prefer LEE-rah, I think it sounds more distinct!
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is bright and starry - giving off silvery imagery, [name_m]Oxford[/name_m] spires, night skies, a large, clear moon.
I’ve met two Lyras - one was a baby, the other was an energetic five year old.
I’d instinctively say LIE-RUH
I love the name [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! This name was on my shortlist until someone in my family named their new baby [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. I pronounce it lie-ruh (as does my family). From my experience, the pronunciation isn’t necessarily people’s first guess but I definitely prefer it and I believe it’s more accurate.
As for imagery: starry night sky, walking the beach at night, classical music, electricity. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is a sharp, high energy name, while still feeling storied and natural.
I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! It’s one of my favorite names!
I pronounce it Lie-ruh. I’ve never met one.
I know it is spelled differently but I just think of the money
It’s not one of my personal faves but I think it’s cool for others. [name_f]Imagery[/name_f] is celestial - constellations… and I want to say steampunky but that’s not quite it - more elegant and refined than that… arcane metallic instruments - I’m obviously thinking of the golden compass . I’d imagine a [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] much like the character, driven, tenacious and purposeful. I’d pronounce Lie-ra.
[name_f]My[/name_f] niece is a [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (Lie-ra) and that’s the only reason I wouldn’t use it myself! I’ve heard it on a few others under ten. It always gives me sparkly, starry imagery. (My niece is thoughtful, articulate, arty and loves manga if this is any help!)
I would say Lie-ra for prononciation.
vibes: a sweet spunky girl who loves music and playing outside. also starry nights and the moon I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]!
i adore lyra! she is strong and sharp, yet sweet and energetic. i picutre a giggly little girl, who loves playing outdoors and drawing. i pronounce it as lie-ruh. one of my favourite names! i have a little second cousin named lyra and her sister is ottilie
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! Makes me think of being outdoors on a wintry night. I’d say leer-uh because it reminds me of the word lyric. I can’t seem to wrap my tongue around lie-ruh, it comes out sounding like there’s a space between the syllables.
I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! I know a toddler named [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. U think of a strong, sweet, spunky, sassy, fun girl
I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] - it’s so sweet. I actually first hear this name when I was in year 12 and (for the life of me, I will never know why we started talking about it), I was at a competition with my band and we started talking about baby names - one of the girls said she loved [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. At first I wasn’t sure about it because ‘LIE-RUH’ sounded a little too close to liar but now I adore it! She’s sweet and spunky. I haven’t met any IRL but I wouldn’t be surprised to either
I absolutely love the name, [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! But to be fair, im obsessed with whimsical names, and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is absolutely it! Simple, sweet, not too out there, just right
