Great to see you like it too !!! I believe it’s a surname & place name, but I’m not sure of the exact etymology…so I did some research & came up with my own meaning…I’m assuming [name_f]Merri[/name_f]/ [name_f]Meri[/name_f] = [name_f]Merry[/name_f]/ Sea/ [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_u]Vale[/name_u] in Latin means “be well, be strong” & to sing…it also means a lush valley/ dale that contains a river or stream…
[name_u]Vale[/name_u] also comes from the root words =
“[name_u]VALE[/name_u], [name_u]VAL[/name_u] & VALU meaning STRENGTH, [name_m]WORTH[/name_m] & [name_m]VALOR[/name_m] - all good things. The Latin valeo & valere mean all these fine things, and the English words have retained and sustained the values inherent in the originals.”(Source: http://www.english-for-students.com/vale.html)
Words derived from these root meanings =
- Valetude : Health’ strength; state of health
- [name_m]Valiant[/name_m] : A person who is brave; honorable
- Valiancy : The quality of bravery; valor
- Valid : Strong; legally correct
- Validity : [name_u]Truth[/name_u]; legal strength
- Validate : Make valid; approve legally; declare
- [name_m]Valor[/name_m] : Value; worth; as, a woman of valor
- Valorous : Having the quality of valor; brave
- Value : Purchasing price; actual worth
- Evaluate : Find out the value; appraise actual worth

Cheers Sorceress !!! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] to see your approval of this name…I was hoping it would sound fresh & melodic to others…
[name_u]Mischa[/name_u] ~
I agree with you re Merivale…it seems more sophisticated than Merrivale…I’ll definitely consider both spellings…I just thought the later version looked more feminine & accentuated the “[name_f]Merry[/name_f]”…I’m chuffed to hear you think it’s a pretty name, thanx for the positive feedback!!!
