ma HELP! Home from hospital with NO NAME!

Well what I feared would happen has happened! We are home from the hospital with our beautiful baby girl and have not agreed on a name. We were originally going to name her lucca vienne (pronounced like Luca but in honor of lucca Italy) but have had some very negative feedback (because it’s a boy name) along with some very positive feedback. Dh still wants this to be her name and while I once was 100% sure it was the name I’m having a hard time commiting now because of feedback. I’m not sure she looks like a lucca either. Our other contender for a long time was mattea vienne but now dh doesn’t like mattea…just had a change of heart I guess. But when I look at her I think she could be a mattea.

Other contenders were/are vienne lucca, mila vienne (which dh really likes but I’m unsure…makes me think of Mira the word for look in Spanish. Also Camilla/Camille is out as a full name), Layla vienne (another dh pick), lucca Juliette (can’t do Juliette as first name as there is a cousin Julian).

Any other suggestions or feedback? I like unique but not so out there, feminine and spunky. I will never name a child juniper, marigold, Hespera etc. but I’m not an Ava, Sophia kind of gal either. Baby girl has a big brother named 0liver h@zen.

Please help!

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Luca[/name_u], even on boys. And I fear the extra C might make it confusing for people trying to pronounce the name from reading it.

I think [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] is wonderful, so that gets my vote. If you do still want to use [name_u]Lucca[/name_u], I would say put it in the middle spot and go with [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] [name_u]Luca[/name_u].

If you’re only concern with [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] is what other people have said, ignore everyone else. Getting feedback is good, it’s important even to hear what other people think so you’ll have an idea of what your child might have to deal with, but in the end, you have to listen to your heart and what feels right for you and your family. Does [name_u]Lucca[/name_u], [name_f]Italy[/name_f] have some significance for you? If so, that’s all that matters. If [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] really isn’t going to work, you have lots of other options. I don’t find the similarity between [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and mira to be bad. It means look, which I’m assuming you already know, but it’s a powerful word, imo. Look, see, sight… literal meanings, sure, but the intent behind telling someone to look, to see is powerful stuff. It evokes curiosity, wisdom, passion, joy. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] is probably my favorite of your picks.

Some others you may or may not be interested in:

I think [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] would be pronounced “luck-uh”, not “luke-uh” (Now that I say that, I’m not even sure how you pronounce [name_u]Lucca[/name_u]!) I don’t prefer this name on a girl, it doesn’t look or sound feminine enough for me personally.

I really, really, really like [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] as a first name, goes well with 0*liver too.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is a great name also, I don’t mind that it is close to [name_f]Mira[/name_f], I love both names.

I love the name [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]! It’s a bummer you can’t use it. (Depending on how close you are with that family or how often you see that cousin, could you still go with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and just share the similar name with another family member?)

I think [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is ok, I prefer [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] to [name_f]Layla[/name_f] though.

If you like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], what about [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] to use the nn [name_f]Miri[/name_f]?

I also like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] or [name_u]JoJo[/name_u].

What about [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f]), [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]…?

I think any of those might go with [name_f]Vienne[/name_f]. You have some pretty name combos to choose from.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. <3

I know a little girls named [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] and she gets nothing but compliments on her name!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] camille ???

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] are my favourites. Honestly it isn’t like the word ‘look’ is negative… So if you love it, go for it!

It’s not that I think the word “[name_f]Mira[/name_f]” is negative I think I just say it in my head in the voice of my abrasive Hispanic grandmother

I love the name mattea and its meaning!

What about [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]? You say it Loo-suh. It’s beautiful and your Husband might like it.

We had considered [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] at one point but aren’t really considering it anymore.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] can be a nn for [name_f]Milena[/name_f]. Sounds good with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].

[name_f]Luciana[/name_f] (loo-see-ah-nuh) [name_f]Vienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (Loo-see-uh)

My first thought was [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f].

It sounds like you are interested in a name that evokes an Italian background. Chiara, Francesca, Martina, Silvia, Elisa, Laura, Elena, Marta, Anna, Alice, Giada, Irene, Caterina, Greta, Miriam, Rebecca, Cecilia, Marina, Ambra, Gabriella, Rosa, Carmen, Gloria, Teresa, Marzia, Francy and Lara are all names very popular in Italy right now, although they may not all have Italian roots. For inspiration, you should research names of famous Italian people too. There are also many international names that are also used in Italy, like Nina, Mina, Luisa or Maria. Also, always consider the meaning of a name for it may change your perspective on it. The name Mira is a verb in Spanish, but in Latin it means wonderful and in Slavic it means peace.

For whatever you and your partner decide, don’t worry so much about what others think. There will always be someone who likes you pick and someone who hates it, you can’t please everyone but you can please yourself.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] is beautiful!

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] for a boy or a girl and I think people will be unsure of the pronunciation. If the city has special meaning, I echo the suggestion of [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] [name_u]Lucca[/name_u], or [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] [name_u]Lucca[/name_u].

Congrats on your baby girl! I agree that if you really love [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] don’t let the negative feedback get to you. It sounds like the name has some meaning to you. That being said I love [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. Some other suggestions…

What about [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]? It sounds Italian, and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f] are both possible nicknames.
