Maashous

I’ve been watching a lot of the new NBC TV show “Rise” recently (love it!). One of the characters on the show is named Maashous, and the more I watch and hear his name, the more it grows on me. He’s one of my favorites on the show. I like that the name is soft but strong, like many of my other favorite boys’ names.

The name itself is made-up. I couldn’t find it mentioned anywhere online, and discovered an article today that confirmed the name was created by the show. It’s pronounced [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-shus, which I don’t think is obvious from the way it’s spelled.

If I do add it to my list, I will probably change the spelling. I love the sound but something about the double As throws me off, and even some of the show’s main cast has trouble spelling it. Since it’s made-up, I also don’t feel bad about changing it. I’m not sure what spelling I like best, but if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Basically, I want thoughts on the name. Is it usable in real life, or do you think it’s a one-person name that only works for the character? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it? Is it too weird for the real world? I’ve been watching the show so much that it is no longer weird to me, but I want to hear from people who haven’t seen the show/heard the name before.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

Macius?
Maycius?
Maytious?
Maessius?
Maissius?
The sound is fine I just don’t know how to spell it

Right?? I think I like Macius best from your ideas. Most of the ones I thought of were way too over the top, and looked like letter soup. Thanks for the response!

I think it sounds good and agree that Macious is probably the best spelling of it.
