I voted [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (which I love) mostly because I don’t like the pronunciation of [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] you described. I much prefer the [name_m]French[/name_m] Léonie (lay-oh-nee), though that’s not as accessible to anglophones. Have they considered [name_f]Leona[/name_f]? [name_f]Leona[/name_f] to me has the same spunky vibe as [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and the [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-oh sound.

I love love love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]! So cute and I love the significance of t

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Leona[/name_f] I think it has the vibe and feel they like and still honors [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. They could even do [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Leona[/name_f].

I voted for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] as I think it’s just a beautiful name that still holds spunk. I do understand that you wish to honour your friend [name_m]Leo[/name_m], so what about [name_f]Leona[/name_f] - it still has the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] sound but imo is a nicer version of [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] that has the elegance and spunk of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

I voted for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. It’s just so sweet, comes with fantastic nicknames, and is absolutely beautiful.

I voted for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], because it sounds like it’s their favourite by quite a way. The honouring aspect of [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is appealing, but at the end of the day this is a name for life for their daughter. They need to love the name in and of itself, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Something like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leontine[/name_f] would be stunning and would tick both boxes, unless the middle name is already set in stone?

Thanks for your feedback and votes so far everyone. I’ll pass on the suggestion of [name_f]Leona[/name_f]. It’s great to see so much love for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] too as I’m also a lover of the old names. They do love [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] as well though. The middle name is not set so [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] could definitely be the one.

Oh, and I’ll have to share [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leontine[/name_f] as well. I didn’t realise there were so many [name_m]Leo[/name_m] girl names!

For me [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] has the sounds of a full trunk bouncing down a flight of stairs, so [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is far & away my choice.

Thanks again to everyone for feedback / voting. [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is also very nice, but they really like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. It’s pretty close right now in the poll, but [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] still looks like it might be the winner.

My vote is also for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

They’re beautiful and they can’t go wrong between the two!

Thanks again everyone. They really love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] and it looks like it might be the one.

I’ll be passing this on to parents next week, so if anyone else wants to vote/comment before then please do. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] still looks like the winner.

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] it is! Thanks again.
