Mabel or Maude?

I love both [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]Maude[/name] but if I use one I can’t use the other.

I love that [name]Mabel[/name] means “lovable”. But since I plan on using [name]Isabel[/name] as a middle name if I have a 3rd daughter I wouldn’t want to use [name]Mabel[/name] as a middle name for a 4th daughter but I would be okay with using [name]Maude[/name].

Which do you prefer?

I can’t decide which is my favourite. The middle name would be [name]Amelia[/name] if that helps.

On their own, I prefer [name]Mabel[/name]. But, I am leaning toward [name]Maude[/name] with the MN [name]Amelia[/name].

[name]Mabel[/name]! [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] is beautiful.

I prefer [name]Mabel[/name].

[name]May[/name] I suggest [name]Maple[/name]?

I love [name]Amelia[/name], but I really don’t care for [name]Maude[/name] OR [name]Mabel[/name]…sorry. An “M” name I do prefer is Maisie.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Maude[/name] (so sleek and elegant sounding!), and it works well with [name]Amelia[/name]. I find [name]Mabel[/name] cute, but a bit too sweet.

I think [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] sounds better than [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], although both are lovely.

I love both names but I think [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] flows better than [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] (too much “el”).

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mabel[/name] but not with [name]Amelia[/name]. Not keen on [name]Maude[/name].

I think [name]Maude[/name] would be a weird name for her, growing up. Can you imagine being called [name]Maude[/name] on the playground? Or at an office? Or hearing it called at her graduation? I think it sounds funny and would have her made fun of. I think [name]Mabel[/name] is unique and still normal sounding enough to be a good lifelong name.

I much prefer [name]Mabel[/name], the sound is softer and sweeter and I can imagine the name being used. However, I do not like the sound of [name]Maude[/name] - I find it harsh and not very pleasing to my ears.

Having said that [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] sounds better than [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], which is repeats a lot of the same sounds.

[name]Both[/name] of them are not my style, but I would go with [name]Mabel[/name]. [name]Both[/name] sound nice with the middle name [name]Amelia[/name]. Whatever name you choose it would be lovely.

Definitely [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]! I met a baby [name]Maude[/name] a few months ago and congratulated her mother on her naming skill.

I like [name]Mabel[/name] so much more than [name]Maude[/name]! [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] works well, imo.

i have a sister [name]Amelia[/name] ([name]Mim[/name]) and a 3 year old daughter [name]Mabel[/name] (who we call Mabe). If my one year was a girl he would have been [name]Maude[/name] (and called [name]Maudie[/name])! He is [name]Barnaby[/name] instead ;-). I think ive written elsewhere on nameberry that since we tuned into playschool (we’re in australia) we’ve realised the chooks are called [name]Maude[/name] [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] which is just a bit too cutesy. i have loved [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]Maude[/name] forever for their straightforward femininity and strength, and their international flavour. [name]Mabel[/name] is definately circulating more here now…[name]Maude[/name] less so. If i had a girl tomorrow i dont think id use it as much as i love it still. Sometimes i wish id used it instead of [name]Mabel[/name], though shes a very gorgeous [name]Mabel[/name]

sorry, i got distracted by all those close to home names. Definately [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]; wouldnt put [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] together, they almost sound like they come from the same root…im pretty sure [name]Mabel[/name] is from Amiable originally (thus lovable). im not sure about [name]Amelia[/name] as a middle name, but if thats what youre going to use then [name]Maude[/name] first i think

I prefer [name]Mabel[/name] but as the middle name is [name]Amelia[/name] (which is lovely) I would go for [name]Maude[/name]

I really like [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], despite the repeating -ay sounds. [name]Maude[/name] is just too mundane for me at the moment.

I love both, but I do prefer the sound of [name]Maude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name].
