Mabel?

We’re talking about baby #2 - just talking right now, not even trying yet, but of course we’re already into name selection  My wife brought up [name]Mabel[/name] yesterday as an option. My initial reaction was to laugh incredulously - it’s starting to grow on me, though. WDYT?

I love [name]Mabel[/name]!

[name]Hi[/name]! I love [name]Mabel[/name], too! I think it’s spunky and sweet, and I think of a [name]Mabel[/name] being warm, kind, and vivacious.

Good luck!

I like the name [name]Mabel[/name], but I will always, always think of it as the name [name]Paul[/name] and [name]Jamie[/name] chose for [name]Baby[/name] Buchman on “Mad About You.”

[name]Mabel[/name] is so old fashioned that I think it has turned around on itself and become fresh and spunky.

I really love [name]Mabel[/name]. Yes, I do think of Mad About You. But they chose it because it was an anagram for Mothers Always Bring Extra [name]Love[/name]. I always thought that was really sweet.

I think [name]Mabel[/name] is really sweet, and yet fresh and spunky!

I think [name]Mabel[/name] is one of those old-lady names that never should have become an old-lady name. I mean think about it. It has both the [name]May[/name] and [name]Bell[/name] nn options. It’s short and sweet and gives you the image of a kind little girl always willing to share her cookies. Okay, maybe the last bit is just me, but I still love the name.

love it

I really, really love [name]Mabel[/name]!

I love [name]Mabel[/name], but I don’t know if it would work for a modern baby girl. I suppose it could, but it would be difficult to pull off without a nickname to fall back on. I love it though, it’s one of my favorites. If you don’t like [name]Mabel[/name], how does she feel about [name]Maribel[/name]?

[name]Mabel[/name] is on my list, but I can’t get my husband to agree. I may just name our daughter [name]Mabel[/name] without his OK!

I think that [name]Mabel[/name] is adorable!

I love it!

I adored [name]Mabel[/name] until I read one of the nameberry blogs that painted [name]Mabel[/name] in quite a negative light. Almost made it out to be frumpy and dowdy. Now, I still love it, but it made me question what kind of name it is, and how it will be perceived 40 years from now.

That said, I do think its a wonderful name. I wish I could recall the blog post, it wasn’t that long ago - and I’d link it.

I think [name]Mabel[/name] is one of those dear old-lady names that has just barely begun to see revival. I place it with names like [name]Helena[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] (although it’s getting popular) [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name]. For me, [name]Mabel[/name] is the personification of a sprightly, colorful little girl that will grow to be a warm, friendly woman. In short words: I think it’s wonderful!

[name]Mabel[/name] is absolutely gorgeous!

I know a lot of people make fun of [name]Mabel[/name], but I don’t get it… at all. I’ve never met an old lady named [name]Mabel[/name], so I don’t see it as an old lady name at all. I just think it’s adorable and to me the sound of it works perfectly with the names that are popular these days. It has the A sound of the [name]Aiden[/name]-mega-name, and [name]Bel[/name], which is crazy popular. So yeah, am I missing something?

I adore [name]Mabel[/name]!! I think it’s sweet and spunky, and just all around adorable!

I agree!
