We were just looking for a name to honor DH’s grandmother [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]. And we thought of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. We’ll most likely use the middle name [name_u]Carmen[/name_u].
What do you guys think? [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], usable or not?
Surname is 2 syllable, Hispanic and starts with T.
I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is very usable! It also offers cute nicknames - [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Belle[/name_f]! Or you could always use [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], I think that’s also beautiful!
Sorry, I have to disagree. To me [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds like the name of a cow. I very much prefer [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]. It just sounds so much lighter and prettier to me. I also dislike when names with the same syllable count are next to each other. Since all three name will be two syllable I think will have a clunky flow. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], to me, just doesn’t roll off the tongue very well. On the other hand I think [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] sounds gorgeous.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is stunning and spunky- I love it. [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], while not my cup of tea, sounds absolutely charming with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. I respectfully disagree with the above poster, and I think the flow is lovely and the name isn’t cow like at all, but horses for courses. If you love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], go for it- it is a wonderful name.
You have to think about who is posting. Is the cow lady for example a frumpy accountant with no imagination? Because my sisters friend (who has [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]) is a hip [name_u]London[/name_u] photographer with loads of taste.
I also prefer [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] to [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] though [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is becoming a hip option in my area. Being the hippie that I am I prefer [name_f]Maple[/name_f] to either of them.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is lovely! There is an adorable character in [name_f]Gravity[/name_f] Falls on Disney named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and she gives the name a young and spunky feel. To be honest, when I first heard [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] it was on a girl in my daycare and I always thought it sounded super modern. I was shocked when I learned that my great-grandma was named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]!
