What do you think of the choice of Macartney & McCall for twin girls? I dont want anything too cutesy or trendy & I prefer stronger names that could go either way. I work in the corporate world and I believe the ambiguousness could be an asset.
I’m not in love with Macartney on a girl, but I adore McCall. I know a woman named McCall and it’s surprisingly spunky and also sophisticated.
I don’t like either, both are surnames to me. Sorry. Also, a little too matchy for twins imo.
Agree with LucyKate, sorry.
Not a fan, sorry. I do see Mc- names for girls as kinda cutesy, and I agree with pp that they are a bit matchy.
I agree, too!
I don’t like it at all. [name]Both[/name] are trendy McNames, like [name]Mackenzie[/name], [name]McKenna[/name], [name]Makayla[/name], [name]McKinley[/name] etc. which all sound dated to me. They’re also surnames, which is another very hot trend. And while you do want a name to be professional if your child becomes a lawyer, you don’t want their name to sound like a law firm, which I think a name like McCall [name]Smith[/name] does. Plus, they’re very matchy for twins, which I think is negative.
I have a problem with viewing androgyny as an asset- it seems to reinforce the notion that women can’t succeed unless they adopt masculine traits. But if you’re set on that, here are some unisex names that may appeal:
[name]Quinn[/name]
[name]Noa/name
[name]Auden[/name]
[name]Bellamy[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Adair[/name]
Not a fan…I don’t like Mc names…I agree with the people above
They are both last names… [name]One[/name] to a male pop star and the other a sewing pattern company.
While I don’t care for Mc- names, I think they’d make interesting middle names if you really like them and could be an interesting shared connection.
not feeling either. sorry. I like [name]Mackenzie[/name] or [name]Mac[/name] as a nn.
[name]Both[/name] of these names ARE trendy because they are SURNAMES used as first names for GIRLS. That is a trendy option. Therefore, I dislike both for girls because they have nothing feminine about them!
Suggestions:
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Avery[/name]
[name]Samantha[/name]/[name]Samara[/name] nn [name]Sam[/name]/[name]Sammy[/name]
[name]Danielle[/name] nn [name]Dani[/name]
[name]Jolie[/name]/[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Joey[/name]
[name]Sydney[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Whitney[/name]
[name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Cadence[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
I think a little girl would have trouble pulling off a name like McCall.
[name]Both[/name] are surnames and as everyone has stated, [name]Mac[/name]-/Mc- names are somewhat trendy. I’m not a fan.
There are some boyish or unisex names that I like:
- [name]Romy[/name]
- [name]Maxine[/name]
- [name]River[/name]
- [name]Remy[/name]
- [name]Darcy[/name]
- [name]Ellery[/name]
- [name]Marion[/name]
- [name]Nino[/name]
To be perfectly honest I think those names are terrible. I agree with some of the above posters that they are, in fact, very on-trend and will soon sound dated. If you must use them, however, at least spell “McCartney” in the usual way (beginning with McC instead of [name]Mac[/name]).
Agree with majority of comments above. Idea of using them for mns is a good option, if you want them to have some connection in their names, but I would try to give them different, individual first names.
Also, would you use nicknames? If so, would they both be “[name]Mac[/name]”…?
ps. among the suggestions above I think [name]Sydney[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] are lovely options that have a similar feel but are more individual
dumb. Trying toooo hard to be non trendy but these names are super trendy. sorry…i hate them.
McCartney & McCall sounds like a [name]Paul[/name] McCartney band or company brand to me.
I agree. I knew a McCall once too and it was an interesting name! I think McCall has that seriousness you are going for, but McCartney loses it for me. It is too surnamey and not femininte enough.
I bet you can find another surname (that doesn’t start with a Mc preferably- too matchy/cutesy for twin girls) to go with McCall. [name]Landry[/name] just popped into my mind.
