I really like this name but the fact that it rhymes with “Bacon” makes it lose some appeal. Is that the only thing you hear when you say the name?
I think of [name_u]Macon[/name_u], GA.
I thought of Bacon o.O Which stinks because I actually like [name_u]Macon[/name_u]!! A nice twist on [name_u]Mason[/name_u].
I pronounced it as [name_u]Mason[/name_u] first so I thought of that
I think of [name_u]Macon[/name_u], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] too. It’s mentioned a lot in Gone With the Wind, one of my favourite novels, which is probably why, since I’ve never been there or known anyone from there Not a fan of this as a name, it sounds rather harsh to me.
I think of the [name_m]French[/name_m] city, Mâcon, which is a nice place. I do agree that it sounds a little like Bacon, though the [name_m]Mac[/name_m] nickname is cute.
I don’t think of bacon… I think of [name_m]Fort[/name_m] [name_u]Macon[/name_u]. I love this name.
It’s the county where I spent my adolescence…and couldn’t escape fast enough. Must have once been more common as a surname. Objectively, nothing wrong with it as a fn, esp. if it’s in your ancestry.
This was my first thought as well. I’m not sure I ever realized that it rhymes with bacon.
As soon as I saw it written, I thought “Bacon with an M?” I can’t get past that.
When I first saw it I thought it was a cre8tive spelling of [name_u]Mason[/name_u].
Are you pronouncing it [name_f]May[/name_f]-cuhn? I don’t know if this is just me, but Bacon and [name_u]Macon[/name_u] sound pretty much identical (the m sound is very close to a b sound in this word).
It’s much too close to bacon for me.
Looks like trendy [name_u]Mason[/name_u] crossed with Bacon. NMS
I love it. Any rhyming with Bacon can only be a positive.
I thought of [name_u]Macon[/name_u], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] first too. But I bets kids will think bacon first. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Maxen[/name_m]?
Very true, lol!
I have a vivid memory of middle school when this name came up and my friends laughing while saying “I’m macon bacon!” Like “making bacon”.
