Madalyn

Thoughts on the name [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f]? What spelling variation of this name do you prefer?

I would want the name to be pronounced with “[name_u]Lynn[/name_u]” at the end instead of “[name_f]Line[/name_f]”

Does it sound OK with our surname? [name_m]Wright[/name_m]

I’m really starting to love this name…possible new favorite!!

[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

I’d spell it [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] if you only want the -lynn pronunciation, though some people will still goof it up. It just happens. I dislike [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] because it looks like a misspelling.

My favorite is [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], which is pronounced Mad-eh-len, though I’m also fond of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with either the -lynn or -line pronunciation.

I think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] sounds great, and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] looks elegant and lovely.

The only spelling of it that I like is [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. And I prefer the mad-a-line pronunciation, but I’ve heard that spelling pronounced both ways.

I’d spell it [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] if you want the best odds of people pronouncing it the way you want. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] is great!

My mum liked [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] for my sister I like either [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] for that pronunciation.

I’d spell either [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn/name_f if you want people to pronounce it with -[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] at the end. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this name! I think [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] looks elegant, but I’ve heard people pronounce it mad-uh-lane which I don’t like.

I love [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with the -line pronunciation but I think [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] sounds really beautiful. Sell it either [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] if you want people to pronounce it with -lynn at the end. It makes it clearer. Either way I think [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is a very elegant name and I really like [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] too, especially with your surname.

I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. Gorgeous name.

I also prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. It’s a lovely name.

I always thought that [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] were modern youneek spellings of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but I’m surprised and rather pleased to see that both [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] have been in the ss 1000 for over a century, each! So they’re not a modern incarnation of the more classic-looking [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I think I can give my blessing on [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] if it’s really the spelling you most prefer—since it actually DOES have some history and isn’t just a modern youneek misspelling.

My preference is for the french [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], however. It’s supposed to be pronounced differently though—the emphasis is on the last syllable. “Mah-deh-LEHN.” Which I think is beautiful.
