Made up names

I used to really dislike made up names. I like the history, origin, and meanings. However, there are two names that I like but not enough on their own. One being [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (middle name ok, not for a first name) and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] (has gotten too popular and I’m not crazy about its meaning). So I made up the name Maevery.

It’s not like it is completely from my imagination, but a combo of two names. [name_m]Hence[/name_m], it could have the meaning of the two names since it is derived from them?

My friend also pointed out that “all names/words are made up from somewhere.”

What do you think? Can Maevery pass as a name? While its obviously not common, I don’t find it too difficult to pronounce or odd by looking at it/hearing it.

A commenter used it from my signature the other day and it stuck out to me that someone liked it and used it as an example, so I thought I would gather some more opinions.

Hmm. I have to say I’m not a fan because it seems very trendy. It’s the -very ending that’s doing it. It’s no [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f], but that is the category I’d put it in.

I don’t have too much of an opinion on it other than I had seen it on your signature before and couldn’t decide how to pronounce it. It looked like Ma-every to me at the time.

It doesnt sound too bad
I would pronounce it [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-veh-ree

So I googled Maevery, and I found a restaurant called Maevery public house. The name isn’t completely made up. You could also look into the name Mavery. I don’t see a problem with the name.

I don’t love it, but I think it’s better than a lot of other made-up names doing the rounds at the moment… I still think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] on it’s own would be stunning though.

Yes, this is the correct pronunciation.

I think it works. It just looks like a feminine version of [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] to me.

Sounds like the name of a flower from a fantasy lineage, I like it.

It’s not my style but it’s not horrible either. I prefer the Mavery spelling. ‘[name_f]Every[/name_f]’ really stands out to me in Maevery which could lead to more pronouciation issues.

I like it. Its very appealing sound. I think it’s simple enough to pronounce yet unique

I prefer the Mavery spelling too, like [name_u]Avery[/name_u] but with an “M.” I personally think it makes more sense from a pronunciation standpoint. And I do like the sound of it.

In 2015, 9 girls were born in the US with the name Mavery, and 9 were born in 2014 as well. 7 in 2013. 5 in 2012. 8 in 2011. And 5 more in 2009. So 43 total girls in the US given the name Mavery since 2009. I am able to find Mavery listed on other baby naming sites.

Best wishes!

Interesting, Thank you!

I think it could work. Go with your guts. [name_f]Kinda[/name_f] like Evary as well.

It reminds me of the surname [name_f]Mabry[/name_f] ([name_f]MAY[/name_f]-bree), which is a variant spelling of [name_f]Mayberry[/name_f].

It looks like Maevery has been used in Kentucky a few times. I think it has a southern feel to it, like [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] perhaps.

I’m not a big fan but it works, especially spelled Mavery - looks more streamlined and legit.
